Depression

*Depression is a feeling of severe despondency and rejection*

Depression is something anyone can fall into at any time or stage in their life.

The Bible let us know in Isaiah 61:3 that God's gives us beauty for ashes oil of gladness for mourning and garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness so that we may be called the trees of righteousness the planting of the Lord that he might be glorified...

Depression is not a sudden unset of feelings.. it's something that creeps gradually into the souls unknowingly. We must just understand as believers that the longer you keep situations bottled in and unsolved the worse it watts you up within.

Things that can lead to depression...

Divers life challenges..

Loss of Job

Grief

Heart break

Feeling like an unachieved

Failure

Situations around beyond your control

A lot of things even aside those mentioned could result in depression.

It is important never to nurse depression alone..

It is important to seek comfort and therapy where appropriate and possible.

In the situation of Judas in When Judas, who betrayed Jesus, saw that Jesus was condemned to die, he felt deep regret. He returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, and said, “I did wrong because I betrayed an innocent man.” But they said, “What is that to us? That’s your problem.” Judas threw the silver pieces into the temple and left. Then he went and hanged himself.

He saw what he did was wrong by selling Jesus, it's not recorded that he was depressed but he was sad about the situation and it ended in him commuting suicide.

In the case of Elijah after He was challenged by Jezebel in

Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah with this message: “May the gods do whatever they want to me if by this time tomorrow I haven’t made your life like the life of one of them.”  Elijah was terrified. He got up and ran for his life. He arrived at Beer-sheba in Judah and left his assistant there. He himself went farther on into the desert a day’s journey. He finally sat down under a solitary broom bush. He longed for his own death: “It’s more than enough, LORD ! Take my life because I’m no better than my ancestors.” He lay down and slept under the solitary broom bush. Then suddenly a messenger tapped him and said to him, “Get up! Eat something!” Elijah opened his eyes and saw flatbread baked on glowing coals and a jar of water right by his head. He ate and drank, and then went back to sleep. The LORD ’s messenger returned a second time and tapped him. “Get up!” the messenger said. “Eat something, because you have a difficult road ahead of you.” Elijah got up, ate and drank, and went refreshed by that food for forty days and nights until he arrived at Horeb, God’s mountain.

Elijah was depressed and asking for God to perform euthanasia but instead God provided food for him...

The difference between Judas and Elijah is that one of them called out.. even though Elijah was asking for wrong answer God saved him.

You might feel you're better keeping and nursing the depression inside of you.

Especially when it's as a result of infidelity or issues in marriage it's great to speak out for help and call God to come to your aid.

Many have suck up depression so much soul ok their soul that they are at the verge of bursting.

Many would have gone beyond and end up ending it all.

I want to encourage you, don't allow the heaviness that you can rule over rule over you.

No matter what the cause maybe speak out, allow God to come into your situation and soothe your pain or the source of the depression.

You can contact Christian counselors, you can open up to a trusting confidant..

Whatever you do don't allow depression to win.

There are times that in relationship people suffer depression alone and the spouse or people around them are unaware

It is important you don't keep it

Many suffer in silence due to the fear of being victimised

It is important we know our strength and weakness and always remind ourselves that God is the one who can replace all weaknesses with strength

We do not just exist on earth for ourselves our purposes are intertwined with others...

That could be a case of you being the confidant or needing one

Don't continue to sweep it under the carpet or continue to stay silent just for fear of unknown remember God isn't a man to lie or son of man to repent. Remember how he comforted Elijah because He called out to God. Don't allow it to eat you up and quench your destiny suddenly

I pray God almighty will touch everyone facing any form of depression whatever the origin may be He will comfort you and give you a new song in Jesus name
