Lessons from Exodus 15 & 16

Exodus 15

This chapter started with victory sounds, songs of victory bursted out from the hearts and mouths of the Israelites following the miracle of crossing the red sea on a dry land while their pursuers and tormentors perished without them lifting a finger as God promised them in 

Exodus 14:14.

Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, singing, “I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously; The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song, And He has become my salvation; This is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. The Lord is a warrior; The Lord is His name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has thrown into the sea; His chosen captains are drowned in the Red Sea. The deep [water] covers them; [Clad in armor] they sank into the depths like a stone. Your right hand, O Lord, is glorious in power; Your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy. In the greatness of Your majesty You overthrow and annihilate those [adversaries] who rise [in rebellion] against You; You send out Your fury, and it consumes them like chaff. With the blast of Your nostrils the waters piled up, The flowing waters stood up like a mound; The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea. The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; My desire shall be satisfied against them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall dispossess them and drive them out.’ You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them; [Clad in armor] they sank like lead in the mighty waters. Exodus 15:1‭-‬10 AMP

The song they sang detailed their experience and how God almighty show forth even at the eleventh hour. 

They were overwhelmed by this act and the words that they said depicts how greatful and how much they were in awe of God 

Who is like You among the gods, O Lord? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in splendor, working wonders? You stretched out Your right hand, The sea swallowed them. You in Your lovingkindness and goodness have led the people whom You have redeemed; In Your strength You have guided them with care to Your holy habitation.

Exodus 15:11‭-‬13 AMP

This shows that when we experience or if you have experienced the extraordinary power of God, you will never remain thesame. Your view of life will change, your utterance will change, your faith will be lifted. The challenges and battle with the Egyptians was so close, it was too close for comfort. The Israelites were already blaming Moses, but Moses cried to God and God had to remind Him to move forward.

You can't stay in the position of defeat if you desire change, growth, breakthrough or divine intervention. You must use your little faith, your tiny winkle faith, your great faith, your giant faith or whichever faith you have left to move forward on the instruction of God.

Exodus 15: 14 -21 further shows how much the Israelites were greatful to God, they brought out instruments, Mariam led the them in the use of the instruments. 

This further proves that you can not praise God silently, you can not praise God in a sorrowful manner, praising God involves internal and external connection to the purpose of praising God. You must praise Him with everything you have, if you are on the instrument you must be  connected.

Exodus 15:22-25

Recorded how Moses led the children of Israel through wilderness. It's worth nothing that God was aware of the journey in the wilderness before it occurred because the Bible recorded that God already scheduled the route He will lead them (Exodus 13-14).  This 3 days journey led them through wilderness and they found water 🌊 (Marah) they were thirsty but couldn't drink it as the water was bitter.

My prayer after reading this verse is Lord when I am in need of comfort never let me encounter bitterness when I seek solution, comfort and breakthrough in Jesus name amen.

The children of Israel became disgruntled or discontented as we may refer to it and asked Moses what they will drink. God being a very good father who doesn't look at our unfaithfulness to judge us  pointed the tree and asked Moses to cut the branch, throw it in the water and the bitter water was healed just like that.

This proves to us that no circumstances is beyond God, even if the situation changes suddenly, He is the God that makes all things work for our good. The water was bitter before Israelites arrived at Marah but because God knew they needed this water so they do not die of thirst, He healed Marah.

Lord for my sake heal everything that has been bitter around me, even where the natural state is beyond repair, let your hands restore them to a better state beyond human imagination in Jesus name amen.

Exodus 15:26 - 27

God made an ordinance of obedience for the children of Israel. As long as they obey the ordinance of God, and they walk uprightly before Him, the sickness of the Egyptians will not befall them.

saying, “If you will diligently listen and pay attention to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and listen to His commandments, and keep [foremost in your thoughts and actively obey] all His precepts and statutes, then I will not put on you any of the diseases which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.” Then the children of Israel came to Elim where there were twelve springs of water and seventy date palms, and they camped there beside the waters.

Exodus 15:26‭-‬27 AMP

I deduce from these verses that some sicknesses and diseases are a result of living a life that is against the will of God. Some behaviour can result in some eternal grave disease except one repents and God's mercy speaks. 

Lord what I do, or I did or might do that will lead to sicknesses and diseases from your wrath deliver me from them and break their existence in my life in Jesus name amen.

Exodus 16

First 3 verses documented how the children of Israel were asking Moses and Aaron why they brought them to Elim in the wilderness of Sin (meaning the place) to die.

This is typical human behaviour especially those who easily forget where God has brought them from. God will never bring you far and leave you half way. God doesn't work like that. It's a subtle reminder to us that there is no stage in our lives that God forgets us, for every phase and stage, He is working and walking with us not against us. 

I pray Lord I will never be an ingrate in life or rebel against you in any way in Jesus mighty name amen.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will cause bread to rain from heaven for you; the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, so that I may test them [to determine] whether or not they will walk [obediently] in My instruction (law). And it shall be that on the sixth day, they shall prepare to bring in twice as much as they gather daily [so that they will not need to gather on the seventh day].” So Moses and Aaron said to all Israel, “At evening you shall know that the Lord has brought you out of the land of Egypt, and in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, for He hears your murmurings against the Lord. What are we, that you murmur and rebel against us?”

Exodus 16:4‭-‬7 AMP

God is a good, good father, always on time, never disappointing God, that is who He is. Despite how the Israelites murmured and complained, His compassion keeps showing up for His own. God said to Moses and Aaron I will make provision but there were instructions they must adhere to.

Whatever we do, obey the precepts of God, it may not make sense to you how He will come through or why there are so much instructions form Him just obey.

I also like the fact that Moses and Aaron let the people know that all this provisions and miracles were from God  not them. The lesson here is we must be mindful of ascribing God's glory to any leader and as leaders when people start ascribing the glory of God to you please correct them and let them know it's God not you. We can be easily carried away as followers or leaders and think oh it's nothing but God is a jealous God. Never share the glory of God with Him, never ascribe the glory of God to man.

Exodus 16:8-19 recorded how they Israelites lives to witness divine provision, one of its kind. Nothing like that has ever been recorded again. There has been circumstances where God used animals or people to meet needs but here manna was falling from the heavenly factory, freshly made each day, calorie rich, no deficiency meal. 

This affirms again that God is Jehovah Jireh.

But human beings will be human being some of them his the food and it developed worms overnight .

But they did not listen to Moses, and some left a supply of it until morning, and it bred worms and became foul and rotten; and Moses was angry with them. So they gathered it every morning, each as much as he needed, because when the sun was hot it melted.

Exodus 16:20‭-‬21 AMP

It was after that they learned their lessons not to hoard the manna.

Please what are you hoarding, what did God ask you to share that you are hoarding follow His instructions and let go now.

Exodus 16:22-26

It was recorded here how God instructed Moses to let the Israelites know that on Sabbath due to rest they must pack the manna worth for two days. It was also recorded that the manna saved overnight sue to Sabbath did not go wormy.

God is organized, He is not disorganized in any way. He plans things, situations and circumstances in a way that His children will benefit from Him directly what an awesome God we serve. All knowing and complete God. 

God is particular about rest, we live in the days where we chase money, material things and we defer rest. Some people ignore the significance of rest to their mental health and overral health. If God can plan ahead for rest why shouldn't you do thesame. Please REST when needed.

 

Exodus 16: 27 -30

Now on the seventh day some of the people went out to gather, but they found none. Then the Lord said to Moses, “How long do you [people] refuse to keep My commandments and My instructions (laws)? See, the Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you the bread for two days on the sixth day. Let every man stay in his place; no man is to leave his place on the seventh day.” So the people rested on the seventh day.

Exodus 16:27‭-‬30 AMP

People still went out on the day of rest to pack manna again. This looks like Stockholm syndrome, they refuse to fully trust God. This is the state of so many people, even when God has shown forth before they still act based on their limited human capabilities and knowledge. Don't be stuck in your ways that you forget to acknowledge God and His ways.

The house of Israel called the bread manna; it was like coriander seed, white, and it tasted like flat pastry (wafers) made with honey. Then Moses said, “This is the word which the Lord commands, ‘Let an omer of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’ ” So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot and put an omer of manna in it, and place it before the Lord to be kept throughout your generations.” As the Lord commanded Moses, so Aaron [eventually] placed it in the presence of the Testimony, to be kept. The Israelites ate manna forty years, until they reached an inhabited land; they ate the manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan. (Now an omer is the tenth of an ephah.)

Exodus 16:31‭-‬36 AMP

Verses 31-36 shows how God requested the children of Israel to keep records basically evidence of what He did for them in the wilderness. This is a testament to the wonder working power of God. This is a testament of Jehovah proving Himself and testament of having faith in Him always. Never stop trusting God, don't grow weary in your faith in Him. Trust Him to complete what He started and you and I will have our evidences earlier than expected in Jesus name.

Lessons from Galatians 5-6

Galatians 5

The chapter started with the fact that we are not slaves when we are in Christ. We are liberated from slavery , we no longer identify with the lineage of the bond woman Hagar, we are of the supernatural and covenant descendants through Isaac that was born by Sarah.

It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed].

Galatians 5:1 AMP

It is important to note the warning in this verse not to be subject again to yoke of slavery. I believe what can make one subject again to slavery is sin and lack of faith in Christ and obedience to Christ.

Notice, it is I, Paul, who tells you that if you receive circumcision [as a supposed requirement of salvation], Christ will be of no benefit to you [for you will lack the faith in Christ that is necessary for salvation]. Once more I solemnly affirm to every man who receives circumcision [as a supposed requirement of salvation], that he is under obligation and required to keep the whole Law. You have been severed from Christ, if you seek to be justified [that is, declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing with God] through the Law; you have fallen from grace [for you have lost your grasp on God’s unmerited favor and blessing].

Galatians 5:2‭-‬4 AMP

Circumcisions was something God required of the Israelites to do for all their male. Here is no longer talking of just that circumcision but circumcision of the heart, of the thought process of the way you see yourself. The process of circumcision natural takes off the fore skin. Here we are required to be free from spiritual blindness that could have hung over our heart based on false doctrine and religious practices that doesn't necessarily leads to salvation or upholds us in living righteously for Jesus.

When you seek to live under the law, you are walking far away from the precepts of living a Christ like life. Walking under the law doesn't guarantee salvation. Walking under the law is regimented, fulfilling all doctrine and religious right in a bid to tick all the boxes of the requirements of the law but it doesn't necessarily move you close to God or guarantee eternal life. The only way to eternal life and to Christ is by renouncing sin, confessing it, and accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour.

For we [not relying on the Law but] through the [strength and power of the Holy] Spirit, by faith, are waiting [confidently] for the hope of righteousness [the completion of our salvation]. For [if we are] in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but only faith activated and expressed and working through love.

Galatians 5:5‭-‬6 AMP

 

We are no longer subjected to the law as we have the holy spirit in us, He is in charge of us. Either circumcised or not which is what differentiates Jews from Gentiles. We are free from the law when we have Christ and the Holy Spirit in us.

You were running [the race] well; who has interfered and prevented you from obeying the truth? This [deceptive] persuasion is not from Him who called you [to freedom in Christ]. A little leaven [a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers] leavens the whole batch [it perverts the concept of faith and misleads the church]. I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view [contrary to mine on the matter]; but the one who is disturbing you, whoever he is, will have to bear the penalty. But as for me, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision [as I had done before I met Christ; and as some accuse me of doing now, as necessary for salvation], why am I still being persecuted [by Jews]? In that case the stumbling block of the cross [to unbelieving Jews] has been abolished.

Galatians 5:7‭-‬11 AMP

I see this part of the scripture as a warning. Warning from deception and deceptive teaching and teachers.  We must be discerning of the type of teaching and teachers we listen to, no matter how motivating and uplifting they sound. If they don't lead us to Jesus and help us grow our faith in Christ it's not worth ruining our soul based on such teaching. Paul was a persecutor of the believers before he met Jesus on his way to commit more attrocities but when he met Christ, he changed and started winning soul because he had tasted freedom and knows the difference between the time he was in bondage as a persecutor to the time he was free living for Christ.

For you, my brothers, were called to freedom; only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the sinful nature (worldliness, selfishness), but through love serve and seek the best for one another. For the whole Law [concerning human relationships] is fulfilled in one precept, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, you shall have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit].”

Galatians 5:13‭-‬14 AMP

Salvation through Christ brings freedom from the law, however it should not be a license to walk in flesh and fulfill the desires of flesh just because you can't be nabbed under the law. This here is a matter of self accountability and responsibility as a believer. Yes, we are free from the law but we must consciously live a life that is sold out to Christ. That is why we have the Holy spirit, He can always help us move just as God wants us to rather than yielding to the flesh at every given second. It's not humanly easy to live above flesh but it is possible through the help of the Holy Spirit.

The scripture also mentioned about loving your neighbour as yourself, which to me is possible if you indeed know how to love yourself. In doing so, it will be possible to love others just like yourself. The scripture also mentioned bickering (Galatians 5:15) arguing about trivial things, all these fall under the flesh, yielding to the flesh.

But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the [desire of the] Spirit opposes the sinful nature; for these [two, the sinful nature and the Spirit] are in direct opposition to each other [continually in conflict], so that you [as believers] do not [always] do whatever [good things] you want to do. But if you are guided and led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the Law.

Galatians 5:16‭-‬18 AMP

Allowing your interaction and yielding to instruction from the Holy Spirit to be your day to day lifestyle is important as a believer. As mentioned in the scripture it helps us navigate our path away from the works of flesh. As long as we still occupy this body here on earth, we will feel the temptations and weight of flesh but we can and are already overcomers if we yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The works of flesh

Now the practices of the sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control), idolatry, sorcery, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions [that promote heresies], envy, drunkenness, riotous behavior, and other things like these. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19‭-‬21 AMP

The practices of the works of flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God. What is the purpose of existing temporarily on earth, yielding to flesh and knowing eternity with God is never guaranteed.

Father rid me of every works of flesh in Jesus name amen

The Fruit of the Spirit

But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22‭-‬23 AMP

I pray lord that you increase the fruits of the spirit in me, increase my yarning for them and my adherence to them in Jesus name.

The fruit of the spirit can only blossom in the life of a believer that plans themselves in the word of God. The word of God is the seed that will eventually germinate and bring out the fruits of the spirit. You can't have the fruit of the spirit without the seed or the seeds of the word of God.

Living for Christ

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature together with its passions and appetites. If we [claim to] live by the [Holy] Spirit, we must also walk by the Spirit [with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage—our conduct empowered by the Holy Spirit]. We must not become conceited, challenging or provoking one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:24‭-‬26 AMP

Lord I belong to you, help me to live a life that is empowered by the Holy Spirit for the rest of my life here on earth in Jesus name amen.

Galatians 6

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any sin, you who are spiritual [that is, you who are responsive to the guidance of the Spirit] are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness [not with a sense of superiority or self-righteousness], keeping a watchful eye on yourself, so that you are not tempted as well. Carry one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the requirements of the law of Christ [that is, the law of Christian love].

Galatians 6:1‭-‬2 AMP

This chapter started with what should be done when you see someone fall into sin. The word caught in sin depicts that you saw them do it and it reminded me of the woman caught in the act and they wanted to stone her to death but Jesus rescued her by asking those without sin to cast the first stone (John 8:7).

This is worth reflecting on, when you catch or observed or heard about someone committing or committed a sinful act how do you react, how do I react? Do we judge them and just excommunicate them? That is self righteousness because no one is infallible except God. I understand it might not be easy to just look away but casting them away and cutting them off might not be the right solution. 

Lord grant us grace to help others when they fall and not judge them into condemnation in Jesus name amen

For if anyone thinks he is something [special] when [in fact] he is nothing [special except in his own eyes], he deceives himself. But each one must carefully scrutinize his own work [examining his actions, attitudes, and behavior], and then he can have the personal satisfaction and inner joy of doing something commendable without comparing himself to another. For every person will have to bear [with patience] his own burden [of faults and shortcomings for which he alone is responsible]. The one who is taught the word [of God] is to share all good things with his teacher [contributing to his spiritual and material support].

Galatians 6:3‭-‬6 AMP

We are meant to bear each others burden in a loving and correcting manner. We are meant to look inward and examine our own attitude and self righteousness and not compare ourselves to others. This can be burdensome and at times uncalled-for because we believe that our lives should not be slowed down or tampered by someone else's but the truth is our destinies here on earth are connected. In as much as salvation is personal we will still need to be the right scripture that others will read for them to draw close to God either they are already believers or not.

Doing good to others

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not allow Himself to be ridiculed, nor treated with contempt nor allow His precepts to be scornfully set aside]; for whatever a man sows, this and this only is what he will reap. For the one who sows to his flesh [his sinful capacity, his worldliness, his disgraceful impulses] will reap from the flesh ruin and destruction, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.

Galatians 6:7‭-‬9 AMP

God is all knowing and all seeing, we can't mock God or ridicule Him in any way, shape or form. So if we do good we will reap good, it doesn't necessarily mean from those we do good to but God knows how to give good turns to those who do good according to His will. So if you sow fleshy desires and continue to do things based on the impulses of flesh, its just like the theory of seed and harvest time. A time will come that the harvest will be ripe and plentiful and whatever you have put in the time of sowing is what you will harvest. It is important to invest right on growing with and in the fruit of the spirit. The world we live in right now promotes lots of works of flesh as oppose to fruits of the spirit. Some don't even regard the word of God as the ultimate, they follow all different types of theories because as human we are drawn to things we see compared to what we don't see. 

So then, while we [as individual believers] have the opportunity, let us do good to all people [not only being helpful, but also doing that which promotes their spiritual well-being], and especially [be a blessing] to those of the household of faith (born-again believers).

Galatians 6:10 AMP

Lord grant me grace to do good to all people and be a good scripture that they read and lead them to you in Jesus name amen.

For even the circumcised [Jews] themselves do not [really] keep the Law, but they want to have you circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh [that is, in the fact that they convinced you to be circumcised]. But far be it from me to boast [in anything or anyone], except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither is circumcision anything [of any importance], nor uncircumcision, but [only] a new creation [which is the result of a new birth—a spiritual transformation—a new nature in Christ Jesus]. Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule [who discipline themselves and conduct their lives by this principle], and upon the [true] Israel of God (Jewish believers).

Galatians 6:13‭-‬16 AMP

Apostle Paul's in these letter was laying emphasis on living for Christ either circumcised or not. Don't live to please man, the ordinance of man and the law that separates Jews from Gentiles based on circumcision.

From now on let no one trouble me [by making it necessary for me to justify my authority as an apostle, and the absolute truth of the gospel], for I bear on my body the branding-marks of Jesus [the wounds, scars, and other outward evidence of persecutions—these testify to His ownership of me]. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, my brothers and sisters. Amen.

Galatians 6:17‭-‬18 AMP

Lord I want to boldly bear your witness everywhere I go, grant me the grace to stand for Christ to the very end. Help me to love others as you love them and treat them with your love and not judge them. Above all let me make heaven in Jesus name amen.

Lessons from 2 Kings 22 - 25

2 Kings 22

2 Kings 22: 1- 7

This chapter started with the age Josiah the grand child of Hezekiah became king. He was 8 years old, and he ruled Israel for thirty one years.

He the eighteenth year, King sent two people to go to the house of the Lord to check how much money the people brought into the house of the Lord and ensure it is paid to the carpenters that were doing the repairs of the damages made to the house of the Lord. The money paid to these carpenters would not be accounted for because they were faithful.

These verses exemplifies trust and the need of finance in the house of God. The money contributed was used for repairs which sounds fair enough.

2 Kings 22: 8-13 recorded how the lost book was found and how the two men Josiah sent to the temple informed him that the priest found the book. They read the content of the book to him and he fell into repentance not just that he required that they go enquire of the Lord what they needed to do, because the generation before them failed to obey what the book say.

When people ahead of you fail or fall don't follow in thesame direction, you do not have to repeat people's mistake even if it's all you know. What Josiah did here shows the heart of a man who is ready to change and to ensure things are done according to God's will.

The priest Hilkiah and three others went to meet the prophetess Huldah to gain clarity of what the book says and she was able to explain to them as recorded in the verses below

She said to them, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘Tell the man who sent you to me, thus says the Lord: “Behold, I am bringing a catastrophe on this place (Judah) and on its inhabitants, [according to] all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read. Because they have abandoned (rejected) Me and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke Me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore My wrath burns against this place, and it will not be quenched.” ’ But to the king of Judah who sent you to inquire of the Lord, you shall say this to him: ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel, “Regarding the words which you have heard, because your heart was tender (receptive, penitent) and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I said against this place and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and because you have torn your clothes and wept before Me, I have heard you,” declares the Lord. “Therefore, behold, [King Josiah,] I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be taken to your grave in peace, and your eyes will not see all the evil (catastrophe) which I will bring on this place.” ’ ” So they brought back word to the king.

2 Kings 22:15‭-‬20 AMP

What I learned from this act of Josiah and the message delivered through the prophetess is to ensure we approach God with true repentance, God is a merciful God. He could have said to Josiah you will pay for the sins of your father but instead, He showed him mercy and it's recorded that his eyes never saw evil.

Lord I come to you in all that I do and all that concerns me show me mercy even over things I have no clue is related to me that can lead to any form of catastrophe in Jesus name amen.

It important not to just assume a position and run with the current ideas, always investigate and follow the truth, then run with the truth even when it feels uncomfortable.

2 Kings 23

2 Kings 23: 1-3, King Josiah made a covenant in the temple, he didn't just go alone he went with all the men and he read what was in the book that was found in the temple to them and made a covenant with God to follow every word in the book.

Here Josiah shows what a true leader should do, it was not enough that he had asked God for mercy, he didn't not rule just based on his head knowledge or allow the power to get into his head. He called all the men as they were leaders of their own household. If a community is functioning right, check the individual household they are possibly doing something right too. A true leader should not just be about ordering people but leading by example, a true leader serves the people they lead.

2 Kings 23 4-20 King Josiah did a thorough cleansing of the evil altars, Baal altar and all idols including animals that were symbolic to worshiping some gods he ensured they were taken off. Amon his father was an orchestrator of bringing this idols into the temple of God but King Josiah ensured they were all taken out including the bones of the worshippers, he ended the worshippers of idol. 

Then Josiah said, “What is this monument (gravestone) that I see?” The men of the city told him, “It is the grave of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things which you have done to the altar of Bethel.” He said, “Let him alone; let no one disturb his bones.” So they left his bones undisturbed, with the bones of the prophet who came from Samaria.

2 Kings 23:17‭-‬18 AMP

He came across the tomb of the prophet that proclaimed all that was written in the book and requested that they leave the tomb alone in respect, this shows how much King Josiah reverenced God and the people or things that is attached to the Most High.

What I learned from this, is that we can't accommodate any Idol in our temple and still serve God. We can't encourage the idol worshippers to use our temple as a dumping ground either. In this age we live in,idol worshipping isn't just about going to a place to pour libations on some effigy and reciting incantations. Technology has improved the accessibility of idol worshipping. It takes the spiritual understanding to know what we must get rid off, because our lives and body specifically are the temple of God. What is the source of the deposit that is at war with my spirit man against the will of God? I must get rid of them, so my life can exemplifies Christ through and through.

2 Kings 23: 21 - 27

Recorded how King Josiah initiated the reinstatement of the celebration of the Passover and the Bible recorded that no king before him abide to the law of Moses as he did.

Before him there was no king like Josiah who turned to the Lord with all his heart and all his soul and all his might, in accordance with all the Law of Moses; nor did anyone like him arise after him.

2 Kings 23:25 AMP

This shows a true heart of worship he didn't do it to gain medals or to be seen as the best by the people, He did it to honour God.

In your position what do you change to honour God.

Although the wrath of God still kindled against Judah due to their past sin but Josiah did all to serve God despite that.

2 Kings 23: 28- 33 recorded how  Josiah died, he was killed by Pharaoh (Neco) in Meggido, Jehoahaz succeeded Josiah but did evil before God, he was imprisoned by Pharaoh.

This Pharaoh had a hidden agenda as documented in the verses below;

Pharaoh Neco made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in place of his father Josiah, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. But he took Jehoahaz and brought him to Egypt, where he died. Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh, but he taxed the land to give the money as Pharaoh commanded. He collected the silver and gold from the people of the land, from everyone according to his assessment, to give it to Pharaoh Neco. Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned for eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zebidah daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. He did evil in the sight of the Lord, in accordance with everything that his forefathers had done.

2 Kings 23:34‭-‬37 AMP

It's a shame that some people are always after extorting others which is what we see this Pharaoh did. He imprisoned Jehoahaz, them made Jehoiakim the Kim so that he could extrort the people by extending his authority through Jehoiakim. 

I pray for all leaders that God will deliver them from the hands of puppeteers in Jesus name.

2 Kings 24

2Kings 24: 1-5 recorded how Jehoiakim fell into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar how he continued to do evil and how Judah was given up to Babylon just because of the sin of King Manasseh against God.

I pray that we will never partake of the sins of generations of leaders we never met and I pray that God's mercy will overshadow historic sins that puts any of us at a disadvantage in Jesus name amen.

2 Kings 24: 6- 9

Recorded that after Jehoiakim died, Jehoiachin  became the King however the entire rulership was an extension of orders from Nebuchadnezzar, at this point Nebuchadnezzar had taken over all that belonged to Pharaoh so this people were indirectly being sold and governed into some higher power slavery. They had a ruler but the ruler was a puppet in the hand of puppeteers. 

Lord, I break every control of power over my destiny is the hand of tyrants and wicked leaders in Jesus name

I decree over this land, that every power navigating decisions in directions against the will of God over the nation's and the inhabitants is permanently destroyed in Jesus name

There are some battles that are held by people in high places that only the mercy of God can cause breakthrough for His own children.

I pray we will always merit the mercy of God in Jesus name amen

2 Kings 24: 10-16

Jehoiachin was taken into exile in Babylon and even imprisoned including his household leaving Jerusalem destitute and object to their tormentor Nebuchadnezzar.

Jehoiachin king of Judah surrendered to the king of Babylon, he and his mother and his servants and his captains and his [palace] officials. So the king of Babylon took him prisoner in the eighth year of his [own] reign.

2 Kings 24:12 AMP

This is a sad situation, this is an evidence of not following the word of God a d his precepts. God always avenge for His own but of you fail to abide in his will the wrath of God is the answer to that. Although the wrath of God was already on the land, their leaders amplified the need for the wrath to manifest die to their ways against God.

2 Kings 24: 17 - 20

Then the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah. Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned for eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. He did evil in the sight of the Lord, in accordance with everything that Jehoiakim had done. Because of the anger of the Lord these things happened in Jerusalem and Judah, and it [finally] came to the point that He cast them from His presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

2 Kings 24:17‭-‬20 AMP

Reading these verses above just gave me more reason to identify with Christ. If you live in this world with no true identity in God, you will be assigned any form of identity. Nebuchadnezzar and the kings of Babylon are ffond of doing such as they did to the 4 Hebrew boys. So anyone they control or have taken as their property gets their name changed from what we can see here. Changing a person's name is a bid to let them lose their identity. This is not something the people accepted by choice because they had no choice because the me was changed by their captors.

I change every negative identity, placed upon my life and lineage in Jesus name

I refused to be called any evil name that God has not given to me or my household in Jesus name

2 Kings 25

2 Kings 25: 1 - 7

Now in the ninth year of Zedekiah’s reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he with all his army, against Jerusalem, and camped against it and built siege works surrounding it. The city came under siege [for nearly two years] until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine [caused by the siege] was severe in the city; there was no food for the people of the land. Then the city [wall] was broken into [and conquered]; all the men of war fled by night by way of the gate between the two walls by the king’s garden, though the Chaldeans (Babylonians) were all around the city. And they went by way of the Arabah (the plain of the Jordan). The army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. Then his entire army was dispersed from him. So they seized the king (Zedekiah) and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah [on the Orontes River], and sentence was passed on him. They slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, then put out the eyes of Zedekiah and bound him [hand and foot] with bronze fetters and brought him to Babylon.

2 Kings 25:1‭-‬7 AMP

These 7 verses recorded the wickedness of Nebuchadnezzar against Jerusalem, it was not enough that he changed the name of a king then he besieged the land, causing famine then came to fully take over and killed all the sonaof the king right before his eyes.

The king was just a figure head, because Nebuchadnezzar had control from the get go, and what use is a king who can't defend his kingdom. To further break the feathers of the King they killed his sons in front of him. They kept him in fetters and chain, they have not only damaged his kingdom. They damaged him as a man, they broke his spirit. This is utter wickedness and we still see such happening in this current time. 

Lord for as many using their position to make life unbearable to others and destroying, generations arise and avenge for the victims in your mercy in Jesus name amen.

2 Kings 25: 8 - 21

Documented the damages made to the land how their houses was burnt down, they took their belongings away from them. They burnt down the temple built by Solomon and forcefully took the ornaments and things Solomon had taken time to and put so much details in ensuring he built the temple for the lord.

All these occurrences just further ascertain the our treasure should be in heaven not on this earth. Whatever we build here on earth will be left here on earth even temples and places of worship with magnificent architecture they would be destroyed at some point. God will not dwell in temples built with blocks but the the people who are sold out to serving and worshipping Him.

2 Kings 25: 22 - 

Now over the people whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left in the land of Judah, he appointed [as governor] Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan. When all the captains of the forces, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah governor, they came with their men to Gedaliah at Mizpah, namely, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite. Gedaliah swore [an oath] to them and their men, and said to them, “Do not be afraid of the servants (officials) of the Chaldeans. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.” But in the seventh month Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal family [who had a claim to be governor], came with ten men and struck and killed Gedaliah and the Jews and the Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah. Then all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the forces set out and went to Egypt; for they were afraid of the Chaldeans (Babylonians).

2 Kings 25:22‭-‬26 AMP

This story keeps getting interesting and all I can see is greed, lack of humanity, power struggle and lack of faith on the Almighty God.

Now it came about in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, on the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he became king, showed favor to Jehoiachin king of Judah and released him from prison; and he spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the throne of the [other] kings [of captive peoples] who were with him in Babylon. Jehoiachin changed his prison clothes [for palace garments] and he dined regularly in the king’s presence for the remainder of his life; and his allowance, a continual one, was given to him by the king (Evil-meridach), a portion every day, for the rest of his life.

2 Kings 25:27‭-‬30 AMP

After 37years in exile and in prison Jehoiachin was favoured by and evil king. Hmmm this is what you call against all odds but what about the wasted years, did Jehoiachin learn from the time in exile and prison, will he continue in his evil ways or change to serve God?

This answers are still in the Bible, this Bible studies is to ensure that we have clarity and revelation of what happened in the Bible and also build our lives right in a way that God will be magnified. Learning from the mistakes of these king from 1st to 2nd King is enough for a person to have a changed life.

Having Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour will help you get close to God and worshipping with Bible based believers and constant growth through the word and in the word is important.

Bible studies 2 Kings 13 -15

2 Kings 13

This chapter began with the start of the tenure of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu ruling over Israel in the 23rd year of Joash the King of Judah. Joash did evil in the sight of God and God allowed Hazel to take over and rule after he assassinated  Aram.

Then Jehoahaz prayed for the Lord’s help, and the Lord heard his prayer, for he could see how severely the king of Aram was oppressing Israel. So the Lord provided someone to rescue the Israelites from the tyranny of the Arameans. Then Israel lived in safety again as they had in former days. 2 Kings 13:4‭-‬5 NLT

Jehoahaz saw the wickedness of Aram and prayed to God to vindicate Israel against their oppressors. From these verses we can see how powerful praying to God is. It's not that God isnt aware of our situation but through prayer we lay it down before His throne and He is able to give us the best outcome instead of us taking matters into our own hands.

I pray that God will deliver us from all tyranny and oppression from the pit of hell that is manifested through human in our lives in Jesus name.

The scripture noted how the children of Israel continued to sin and due to this their enemy was able to kill them and win battles against them.

As a believer, it's not enough to confess that we know God, it is highly important that we prioritize righteous living. Righteous living can't be achieved based on human ability and capacity, it takes constant communion and acknowledgement of the God who created us and reverencing Him above anything else.

Jehoahaz died then his son Jehoash became king, he didn't learn from the repercussions of his father's ways he did same as his father not totally serving God and following the precepts of God. Jehoash died after reigning 16 years.

When Elisha was in his last illness, King Jehoash of Israel visited him and wept over him. “My father! My father! I see the chariots and charioteers of Israel!” he cried. Elisha told him, “Get a bow and some arrows.” And the king did as he was told. Elisha told him, “Put your hand on the bow,” and Elisha laid his own hands on the king’s hands. Then he commanded, “Open that eastern window,” and he opened it. Then he said, “Shoot!” So he shot an arrow. Elisha proclaimed, “This is the Lord’s arrow, an arrow of victory over Aram, for you will completely conquer the Arameans at Aphek.” Then he said, “Now pick up the other arrows and strike them against the ground.” So the king picked them up and struck the ground three times. But the man of God was angry with him. “You should have struck the ground five or six times!” he exclaimed. “Then you would have beaten Aram until it was entirely destroyed. Now you will be victorious only three times.” 

2 Kings 13:14‭-‬19NLT

The scripture is so informative and we must not take the word with levity. Elisha was on his death bed when Jehoash visited  him, he clearly saw the chariots and charioteers. My prayer is at the end may we experience a glorious exit not a dooming exit. He knew  Elisha was about to die and it appears as if Jehoash wanted to collect last blessing in which Elisha put his hand on the hands of Jehoash asking him to shoot the arrow of victory over Aram. Remember Aram was their oppressor and the tyrant after shooting the arrow, Elisha said he should strike it against the ground which he did 3 times and Elisha was furious that he should have struck it about 6 times but due to how Jehoash limited the striking of the arrow 3 times so his victory will be 3 times. One must be very careful at how you obey a prophet. Perhaps if Jehoash, had asked Elisha how many times may be he would have known he should do more than 3 times.

Lord please give me divine understanding when I receive prophetic instructions do not let me use my limited human understanding to short change my blessings in any aspect in Jesus name amen.

The type of anointing that Elisha had was still manifesting even after his death his bones brough a dead man back to live.

Then Elisha died and was buried. Groups of Moabite raiders used to invade the land each spring. Once when some Israelites were burying a man, they spied a band of these raiders. So they hastily threw the corpse into the tomb of Elisha and fled. But as soon as the body touched Elisha’s bones, the dead man revived and jumped to his feet!

2 Kings 13:20‭-‬21 NLT

God is unquestionable in all areas, a dead prophet's bone brought back a dead man. God works in mysterious ways none can question him.

King Hazael of Aram had oppressed Israel during the entire reign of King Jehoahaz. But the Lord was gracious and merciful to the people of Israel, and they were not totally destroyed. He pitied them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And to this day he still has not completely destroyed them or banished them from his presence. King Hazael of Aram died, and his son Ben-hadad became the next king. Then Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured from Ben-hadad son of Hazael the towns that had been taken from Jehoash’s father, Jehoahaz. Jehoash defeated Ben-hadad on three occasions, and he recovered the Israelite towns.

2 Kings 14

Amaziah son of Joash began to rule over Judah in the second year of the reign of King Jehoash of Israel. Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother was Jehoaddin from Jerusalem. Amaziah did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, but not like his ancestor David. Instead, he followed the example of his father, Joash. Amaziah did not destroy the pagan shrines, and the people still offered sacrifices and burned incense there.

Amazing did just like his father, what baffles me in this royal lineage is that they served God partially and we know our God is a jealous God. You can't serve Him partially, is either you serve Him or you don't. The lesson picked from here as a believer is that we must seek God in our personal journey and not imitate what was done by people before us or even people we reverence as leaders in faith.

When Amaziah was well established as king, he executed the officials who had assassinated his father. However, he did not kill the children of the assassins, for he obeyed the command of the Lord as written by Moses in the Book of the Law: “Parents must not be put to death for the sins of their children, nor children for the sins of their parents. Those deserving to die must be put to death for their own crimes.”

2 Kings 14:5‭-‬6 NLT

In those days it appears as though the king's take laws into their hands but they still follow the laws of Moses. However, this no longer the ways we should live in this dispensation of grace, allowing God to avenge for us is important than taking laws into our hands.

2 Kings 14: 7- 22 recorded the events that happened in the life of Jehoash and how Amazing became king over Judah and the conspiracy raised against him.

For the Lord saw the bitter suffering of everyone in Israel, and that there was no one in Israel, slave or free, to help them. And because the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel completely, he used Jeroboam II, the son of Jehoash, to save them.

2 Kings 14:26‭-‬27 NLT

After the death of Jehoash, Jeroboam II became the king and God used him to deliver Israel after God saw the suffering and bitterness of the children of Israel. In as much as Jeroboam II was not 100% walking in line 2ith the will of God, God used him because He wanted to keep is own part of the covenant He has with Israel.

God doesn't forget His covenant, as human we might forget but God always play His path and fulfill His promises.

Lord I pray, no matter where I am never neglect me or forget your covenant concerning me, bring them to manifestation in all aspect in Jesus name amen.

After the death of Jeroboam II Zachariah his son became King over Israel.

2 Kings 15

Uzziah son of Amaziah began to rule over Judah in the twenty-seventh year of the reign of King Jeroboam II of Israel. He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother was Jecoliah from Jerusalem. He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, just as his father, Amaziah, had done. But he did not destroy the pagan shrines, and the people still offered sacrifices and burned incense there. The Lord struck the king with leprosy, which lasted until the day he died. He lived in isolation in a separate house. The king’s son Jotham was put in charge of the royal palace, and he governed the people of the land.

2 Kings 15:1‭-‬5 NLT

Uzziah became King at 16 and ruled for 52 years however he did just as the other kings before him and did not destroy the pagan altar but God struck him with leprosy and he had to live in isolation.

This here reminds me of the scripture that says God will have mercy on whom He will have mercy on. In the case of the other kings they kind of got away with partial obedience but Uzziah paid with his whole existence what is the use of a King that lived in Isolation.

My father, my father, whatever I do, wherever I am, whoever I become always let the fire of obedience to your burn within me, let me restless until I obey you fully, destroy pattern of partial obedience from my life in Jesus name.

Zechariah son of Jeroboam II began to rule over Israel in the thirty-eighth year of King Uzziah’s reign in Judah. He reigned in Samaria six months. Zechariah did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, as his ancestors had done. He refused to turn from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had led Israel to commit. Then Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against Zechariah, assassinated him in public, and became the next king.

2 Kings 15:8‭-‬10 NLT

Zechariah son of Jeroboam II paid with his life because he followed the pattern of his ancestors partial obedience. His life ended brutally, public assassination

Lord , I come to you today, remove every seed of partial obedience from my lineage in Jesus mighty name

Lord break patterns and cycles that automatically becomes a generational inheritance that is against your will in my life and family in Jesus name 

From 2 Kings 15: 13-36 all the kings that reigned were partially obedient to God.

Being in the position of power or authority doesn't exempt any man from fully obeying God. These royals and their lineage did not change their ways, they continued thesame mistakes as their predecessors. When a mistake is repeated it's often referred to as habits instead of mistake.

There is no excuse when you see people before you fall into the same sin and you fail not to learn from them. It's understandable to some existence of you didn't witness it but majority of these kings witnessed it.

To you that is reading are their patterns that do not align with God in your lineage, are their cycles that feels humanly right or comfortable but is not aligning with the word of God you can break it.

Ask God for grace to break it, breakthrough and break free in Jesus name

Be conscious and determined to live your life pleasing your maker not the honour of your blood line.

Lesson from 2 Kings chapter 5 to 6

2 Kings 5

Chapter 5 started with the description of Naaman, the commander of the army of Syria. The scripture explained how he has brought victory into Syria, but he was a leper.

Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram (Syria), was considered a great man by his king, and was highly respected because through Naaman the Lord had given victory to Aram (Syria). He was also a man of courage, but he was a leper.

2 Kings 5:1 AMP

The prayer that came to mind reading the opening verse is 'God every evil label, tags and buts that trumps my glory or beclouds my destiny or that of my lineage, remove them permanently '. Despite the skills of Naaman his physical disability was a label used to describe him anywhere he goes. I can imagine how that affected him as a person, even at that Naaman was dilligent in his service and his works speaks for him.

Moving on 2 Kings 5 :2-4 recorded that he brought back a young Israel girl from their raids and she was waiting on Naaman's wife, meaning she was Naaman's wife's maid or servant.

This young girl was an agent of change in the house of Naaman.  I wonder the type of treatment they gave her for her to speak up as she did that Naaman can receive healing if he reached out to the prophet in Samaria (Elisha) who will heal him.

2 Kings 5: 5-7 recorded how Naaman recounted the conversation to the king of Syria, who in turn reached out to Johoram the son of Ahab who was the King of Israel at the time. The king reacted in an unexpected way, saying am I God.

Here I see a king who had no genuine relationship with God, from the preceding chapters we can see that Elijah was around before Elisha and there were other prophets but the lineage of Solomon have been far from God apart from King Asa. So this King chickened out that he is not God because he doesn't even know the God of Israel as he ought to. Thank God for Elisha who came to their rescue and was able to affirm what the young girl said.

2 Kings 5 : 8-14 recorded how Elisha requested that Naaman come and see him and he didn't even step out to physically see Naaman instead he gave a word that he should go and wash 7 times in Jordan which initially did not sit right with Naaman because he was expecting some instant miracle perhaps through direct contact with Elisha instead of washing in Jordan.

The lesson here, God can bring any man's breakthrough via any means He pleases. It is important not to box God to work in a certain way or else one can lose their hour of visitation.

Then his servants encouraged him to obey the Prophet which he did. The character of Naaman or should I say the way he treated his servants shows that he was a leader that takes advise from people he manage or lead.

As a leader don't be power drunk to the extent that you are accountable to no one and you can't take advise from anyone with a position lower than you. If Naaman had allowed his own thought to rule, and he carried on with his disobedience he won't have  received his healing.

Naaman heed to the word of Elisha and the Bible recorded that after he washed in Jordan for 7 times his skin was healed that he looked like the skin of a baby.

This God can make what happen to you become a history that can't be physically traced. Because a leper even when they get healed should still have scars but the record here is that, there was no scars.

My prayer is that God whatever buts and label that has hung over my head and left scars, bring an end to them today and remove every scars that will bring them to remembrance in my life in Jesus name amen.

2 Kings 5: 15 -19 recorded how Naaman returned to show gratitude after he had received his healing. He went back to ask what he can sacrifice but Elisha said there was no need, he instead said he should go in peace.

I commend Elisha for being a man of integrity who didn't misuse his spiritual office and spiritual authority for his own gain. 

It is important as human not to get stuck in expectations from people you have helped or God used you for, allow God to reward you don't be greedy about your gift and commercialise it for your own gain.

2 Kings 5 : 20-27, recorded how Gehazi( Elisha's apprentice) due to his greed followed Naaman, he lied  that Elisha sent him to collect the gifts after collecting it, he went straight to his house to hide it. On getting to Elisha, Elisha told him what he just did and ask him where he went to. He then said the leprosy of Naaman will cling on Gehazi.

Greed is not a good thing, it might seem okay at the time you are collecting what doesn't belong to you due to greed but the aftermath is disastrous and it's important as a child of God not to allow greed in our lives no matter how little or great it is.

2 Kings 6

2 Kings 6 : 1-7 started with the sons of the prophets requesting to move to a larger place away from the small place they dwell with Elisha. It was wise of them to request that Elisha followed them. As they were working and cutting down trees the head of the axe fell into the water. The son of the prophet cried out for help stating that the axe was borrowed. Elisha asked them for where it dropped and he told them he put a stick in the water and the head of axe which was iron floated.

Never rubbish the office of a prophet, don't be too familiar with a prophet that you disrespect their office or relegate their worth. The sons of the prophet would have been in debt due to the incident had it been that Elisha did not follow them and it doesn't make any scientific sense that the wood made iron float from the water. This is a miracle beyond the imaginations of man or scientific explanation.

2 Kings 6 :8 - 13,  the king of Syria was planning war against Israel but as he planned God revealed his plan to Elisha, Elisha in turn informed the king of Israel. This made the King of Syria call his people to inquire who is leaking his plans to the king of Israel and they told him, no one but the Prophet Elisha that lives in Dothan.

This is so profound in the journey of any believer that lives upright and puts God first. If you observe His will, He always reveals secret things to you, even  things that has nothing to do with you. At times God can reveal secret to us so we intercede, some He reveals so we can take right steps to guard ourselves or guide others around us. 

Lord help me to know the hidden secrets that will propel me to the level you want me to be in life and will terminate the plans of the wicked forever in Jesus name amen

2 Kings 6: 14 - 23, so the King of Syria decided to send armies to Dothan to attack Elisha, they got there and Elisha's apprentice was terrified he said to Elisha, master what shall we do. Elisha did not even get scared, instead he asked God to open the eyes of his apprentice and when God did, the apprentice saw that the horses and chariots of fire 🔥 surrounded Elisha. Elisha then pray that the army of Syria be stricken with blindness, he then led them to Samaria. The King of Israel saw them and asked if he should kill them Elisha said no, He prayed that God opened their eyes, they made a banquet and fed them then sent them back to their master. And the Syrian raiders never came back to Israel.

Wow, this is just mind blowing, I will say Elisha showed compassion on them, because he could have requested that the chariots of fire consume the army of Syria but he didn't. 

I pray Lord that you help me to know what to do, how to do it and when to do it in Jesus name amen

2Kibgs 6:24- 30, Samaria was the capital of Israel at the time. It was a big city and Ben-hadad was the King of Syria. There was a great famine things were so expensive, cost of living had gone up. A woman even called on the King to help her and the king said only God can help her. However the king asked what help do you need and she recounted how they had killed and cooked her neighbours child and the neighbor promised that they will eat her own child the next day but the next day she hid her son.

The king reacted bytearing his clothes. Showing grieve, emotion, loss or any bad omen in those days involves tearing of their clothes and wearing sackcloth.

The famine had turn families to cannibals, they were eating their own children oh Lord have mercy.

Lord no matter how bad the economy is, I claim you are my source, you are my provider, you are my defense and you are my God. I will not lack any good thing in Jesus name amen

2 King 6: 31 -33, The king threatened to behead Elisha, The king sent someone ahead to behad Elisha because the king said the famine and siege is from God.

Now Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. And the king sent a man ahead of him [to behead Elisha]; but before the messenger arrived, Elisha told the elders, “Do you see how this son of [Jezebel] a murderer has sent [a man] to remove my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door and hold it securely against him. Is not the sound of his master’s feet [just] behind him?”

How foolish to think that beheading Elisha will solve the famine.

Lord I pray that I will not depend on my human knowledge, I ask for grace to seek you even when it is glaring that there is no solution let me not make irrational decision that will see my end in Jesus name amen.

Lesson from Exodus 3 - 4

Exodus 3

This passage  began with what Moses was doing. Moses was working, looking after the flock of Jethro before Angel God appeared to him.

The Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing flame of fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was on fire, yet it was not consumed. So Moses said, “I must turn away [from the flock] and see this great sight—why the bush is not burned up.” When the Lord saw that he turned away [from the flock] to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then God said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet [out of respect], because the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” Then He said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. The Lord said, “I have in fact seen the affliction (suffering, desolation) of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters (oppressors); for I know their pain and suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand (power) of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a land [that is] good and spacious, to a land flowing with milk and honey [a land of plenty]—to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me; and I have also seen how the Egyptians oppress them.

Although Moses was working, God needed to get his attention through a supernatural means. If the bush was on fire 🔥 and was being consumed at thesame time it won't have caught Moses attention. However the impossible was playing out right in front of Moses then suddenly from what seem quite incredible the voice of God called out Moses name with specific instructions not to come too close because the ground he stands is an holy ground. Our God is a consuming fire, when the fire of God fall on the 2icked he consumes them but when the fire fall on His chosen ones the fire purifies them.

The fire fell on the bush, and purified the land to become a holy ground. God can use anyone, anything or any means to reach his chosen vessel. However, He needs our full attention for Him to communicate with us. Moses was working but right there the fire was used to get his full attention for him to hear from God. Moses was no longer just a worker at that point, the situation around him gave him a supernatural ability to hear the voice of God. If you want to be used by God, are you determined to be alone with Him, are you determined to give him your attention because it's important to do so if you want God to use you.

God told Moses how the cry of the Israelites from Egypt has come up to him and how their oppressors the Egyptians have been oppressing them. God can use anyone as our Moses to orchestrate our freedom the prayer is may the Moses God intends to use be too busy for the assignment in Jesus name amen.

Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, and then bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” And God said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve and worship God at this mountain.” Then Moses said to God, “Behold, when I come to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers (ancestors) has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “You shall say this to the Israelites, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

Moses was skeptical about this whole phase of God speaking to him and sending him back to Israel. Remember he fled after killing an Egyptian and an Israelite called him a murderer, Pharaoh knew he killed an Egyptian and would have killed him if he didn't run away. Although the Pharaoh had since died and there was a new one, Moses still was afraid which is humanly understandable. But with God nothing is impossible, this assignment God is calling Moses to do seem dangerous, that could have contributed to his skepticism. That's why he asked God, okay! If I go back to Egypt and do as you have instructed who will I say sent me? Then God said tell them I Am Who I Am.

In other words, I am the one that says a thing and it comes to pass, I am the creator of the whole Universe, I am the God who is enthroned and no one can the dethrone, I am the King above all kings, I am what I say I am the God with impeccable integrity. Wow! Thank you Jesus...

Then God also said to Moses, “This is what you shall say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob (Israel), has sent me to you.’ This is My Name forever, and this is My memorial [name] to all generations. Go, gather the elders (tribal leaders) of Israel together, and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, “I am indeed concerned about you and what has been done to you in Egypt. So I said I will bring you up out of the suffering and oppression of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.” ’ The elders [of the tribes] will listen and pay attention to what you say; and you, with the elders of Israel, shall go to the king of Egypt and you shall say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us; so now, please, [we ask and plead with you,] let us go on a three days’ journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’

God directed Moses to the elders of Israel, why because all that Moses will recount to them are things that the elders will be able to corroborate as to who the God of Israel truly is. He gave him details of what He had promised them which Moses wouldn't have known, yes He was part of them but He was raised as a Prince 🤴 of Egypt so these detailed were heavenly inspired and delivered.

When we work and walk with God, He is capable of giving us details of things that's happened or yet to happen in a way that the assignment we are on will align with His will through and through. Lord help me in all I do, so I can walk with you and be dedicated to your will in Jesus name amen.

But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless [he is forced] by a strong hand. So I will reach out My hand and strike Egypt with all My wonders which I shall do in the midst of it; and after that he will let you go. And I will grant this people favor and respect in the sight of the Egyptians; therefore, it shall be that when you go, you will not go empty-handed. But every woman shall [insistently] ask her neighbor and any woman who lives in her house, for articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons and daughters. In this way you are to plunder the Egyptians [leaving bondage with great possessions that are rightfully yours].”

God informed Moses ahead of this assignment that Pharaoh will not listen to you, he  won't allow Israel to go until he is forced.  When we just yield to God He is capable of revealing the hearts of men even people in high places to us and ensure we thread the areas accordingly. Moses was not going on this journey based on his head knowledge, it was based on divine instructions. Do you think God has called you, are you functioning in line to His will?

Exodus 4

God supernaturally prepared Moses..

Then Moses answered [the Lord] and said, “What if they will not believe me or take seriously what I say? For they may say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’ ” And the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “A staff.” Then He said, “Throw it on the ground.” So Moses threw it on the ground, and it became a [living] serpent [like the royal symbol on the crown of Pharaoh]; and Moses ran from it. But the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and grasp it by the tail.” So he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand— [“You shall do this,” said the Lord,] “so that the elders may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has [most certainly] appeared to you.” The Lord also said to him, “Put your hand into your robe [where it covers your chest].” So he put his hand into his robe, and when he took it out, his hand was leprous, as white as snow. Then God said, “Put your hand into your robe again.” So he put his hand back into his robe, and when he took it out, it was restored [and was] like the rest of his body. “If they will not believe you or pay attention to the evidence of the first sign, they may believe the evidence of the second sign. But if they will not believe these two signs or pay attention to what you say, you are to take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground; and the water which you take out of the river will turn into blood on the dry ground.”

As human, he questioned if the people will believe him and God told him to throw his staff on the floor, he saw the miracle that happened as he obeyed, then his hands and told him what he will do with water from the Nile. So supernatural preparation involves the building of the faith of the messenger. Moses faith needed to be built by God, he needed to be prepared in the secret place before God placed him on the pinnacle of visibility for all men to see. 

Don't be in a haste to be known by men, let God prepare you supernaturally and empower you for the journey ahead. There might be times of doubt but those can only be destroyed by the building of your faith through personal communion and time with God.

Then Moses said to the Lord, “Please, Lord, I am not a man of words (eloquent, fluent), neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and tongue.” The Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute or the deaf, or the seeing or the blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and will teach you what you shall say.” But he said, “Please my Lord, send the message [of rescue to Israel] by [someone else,] whomever else You will [choose].”

Moses wanted to use  his lack of fluency as an excuse to bail out of this assignment, God reminded him that He was his creator and more so, he will be his mouth piece and teach him what to do.

Ahhh! Lord never let me rely only on my intellectual understanding, help me father to depend on you even in the little details of my life in Jesus name.

Then the anger of the Lord was kindled and burned against Moses; He said, “Is there not your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know that he speaks fluently. Also, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be overjoyed. You must speak to him and put the words in his mouth; I, even I, will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will teach you what you are to do. Moreover, he shall speak for you to the people; he will act as a mouthpiece for you, and you will be as God to him [telling him what I say to you]. You shall take in your hand this staff, with which you shall perform the signs [the miracles which prove I sent you].”

God was angry with Moses and informed him that his brother Aaron was more eloquent but He chose Moses instead at thesame time he reassured Moses that Aaron will be pleased to see him and in other words serve him. 

Don't underestimate how God can use you, who he can call to support you in whatever you do as long as it's His will.

Moses had to deliver the message to Pharaoh without fear, God reiterated to him that he must perform all he had empowered him with in front of Pharaoh.

The Lord said to Moses, “When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders (miracles) which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and make him stubborn so that he will not let the people go. Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Israel is My son, My firstborn. So I say to you, ‘Let My son go so that he may serve Me’; and if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.” ’ ”

There was no excuse that I am afraid of Phroah because God sent him. Lord help me to face authorities just as you want me to without fear of man but with the fear of the Most High God in Jesus name amen.

Disobedience is not a thing that God encourages and that is why Moses almost died because his son was uncircumcised, he miraculously recovered once the son became curcumcised.

Now it happened at the lodging place, that the Lord met Moses and sought to kill him [making him deathly ill because he had not circumcised one of his sons]. Then Zipporah took a flint knife and cut off the foreskin of her son and threw it at Moses’ feet, and said, “Indeed you are a husband of blood to me!” So He let Moses alone [to recover]. At that time Zipporah said, “You are a husband of blood”—because of the circumcision.

What I learned here is even if you are being used by God, you must obey him totally. Nothing is old fashioned with God, if He commanded you to do it, do it except he says otherwise.

The Lord said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So he went and met him at the mountain of God (Sinai) and kissed him. Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord with which He had sent him, and all the signs that He had commanded him to do. Then Moses and Aaron went [into Egypt] and assembled all the elders of the Israelites; and Aaron said all the words which the Lord had spoken to Moses. Then Moses performed the signs [given to him by God] before the people. So the people believed; and when they heard that the Lord was concerned about the Israelites and that He had looked [with compassion] on their suffering, then they bowed their heads and worshiped [the Lord].

God is the Alpha and the Omega, He went ahead and prepared everything for Moses including speaking to Aaron ahead of Moses arrival and Aaron recounted what God told him confirming what He had told Moses in the bush.

When God is the one behind the vision, he makes provision available. He will raise people ahead of the journey to support His will. Father in my life journey raise people that will help me fulfill my purpose as you haveordained me to in Jesus name amen.

1 Kings Chapter 5

This chapter started with highlighting the type of relationship or association that King David had with King Haram. It was a great one and based on this relationship, King Haram sent a congratulatory message to King Solomon. 

King Solomon also used the opportunity to send a proposal to King Haram to supply materials for him to build the temple of the Lord which his father couldn't build.

King Hiram of Tyre had always been a loyal friend of David. When Hiram learned that David’s son Solomon was the new king of Israel, he sent ambassadors to congratulate him. Then Solomon sent this message back to Hiram: “You know that my father, David, was not able to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord his God because of the many wars waged against him by surrounding nations. He could not build until the Lord gave him victory over all his enemies. But now the Lord my God has given me peace on every side; I have no enemies, and all is well. So I am planning to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord my God, just as he had instructed my father, David. For the Lord told him, ‘Your son, whom I will place on your throne, will build the Temple to honor my name.’ “Therefore, please command that cedars from Lebanon be cut for me. Let my men work alongside yours, and I will pay your men whatever wages you ask. As you know, there is no one among us who can cut timber like you Sidonians!”

The Sidonians had good timbers and based off this we can learn how King Solomon thought of quality rather than quantity. Before that the association that David had with King Haram paved way for such proposal from Solomon to King Haram.

They say learn to build bridges not walls. No matter where we find ourselves in life, learn to build bridges. The relationship of David out lived him, that was what made it easy for his son to liaise with King Haram for supply of building material.

This is worth reflecting on, what type of association or relationship am I forming with people, what is the motive behind it, what is the benefit thereof? May God help us in all our relationship in Jesus name amen

1 Kings 5: 7-18 detailed the acknowledgement of King Haram of Solomon's proposal, He even referred to King Solomon as David's wise son. He was pleased with Him and the transaction went well.  I want to say Solomon's approach as well contributed to the approval of the proposal. He didn't become big headed about it, He didn't say well, I am now the king I can send soldiers to go and forcefully take the building materials. That would have been a huge error. Never allow power, or position of authority get to you that you lose vital relationship or association.

1 Kings chapter 6

This chapter detailed when King Solomon started the construction of the temple. Everything was well planned. He started in midspring around April or may according to the Bible. 

It was in midspring, in the month of Ziv, during the fourth year of Solomon’s reign, that he began to construct the Temple of the Lord. This was 480 years after the people of Israel were rescued from their slavery in the land of Egypt. The Temple that King Solomon built for the Lord was 90 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 45 feet high. The entry room at the front of the Temple was 30 feet wide, running across the entire width of the Temple. It projected outward 15 feet from the front of the Temple. Solomon also made narrow recessed windows throughout the Temple. He built a complex of rooms against the outer walls of the Temple, all the way around the sides and rear of the building. The complex was three stories high, the bottom floor being 7-1/2 feet wide, the second floor 9 feet wide, and the top floor 10-1/2 feet wide. The rooms were connected to the walls of the Temple by beams resting on ledges built out from the wall. So the beams were not inserted into the walls themselves.

Then I remember that God is the God who is interested in every detail of our lives. How can you then build something or dedicate something to Him and He wouldn't be involved in the details.

1Kings 6:14-38

Gives details of the interior of the building. Picturing this in my head it must look like those well built cathedral with fine wood and all where you sit and could see the magnificent building from every angle and the interior just makes you want to worship.

The entire building was completed in every detail by midautumn, in the month of Bul, during the eleventh year of his reign. So it took seven years to build the Temple.

According to the scripture it was completed in mid autumn, it took them 7 years to complete the building.

The Bible let us understand that our bodies are the temple of God. 

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,

Knowing clearly that the dispensation we are in is that which the Holy spirit is able to do according to the will of God in and through us.

If my body is God's temple what am I building it with. What am I feeding my body, what am I allowing to enter into my body.

The purpose of the temple Solomon built was so that the Israelites could go there to worship God. One of the reasons they left Egypt after years of slavery was to serve their God and build a temple to worship Him. Exodus 4 -9.

The freedom of Israelites was not just so they can be free from slavery but they can worship God in their own free will but in accordance to the will of God.

Now we live in the age where our body is the temple of God, how is your temple worshiping the Most High? What are you filling your temple with? Does the qualify of the exterior of your temple(body) match the exterior?

Do you worship the temple or the one that fills the temple? Who or what is filling your temple?

If your body and my body is the temple of God, not all that the world allows into their temple will be allowed into yours.

You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial.

1 Corinthians 10:23 NLT

To know what is good or bad we need the guidance of the Holy spirit.

To the bible passage illustration, it goes along with Mark 16:15, which says go ur to the world n preach the Gospel....... I believe our mandate as a believer after been saves is to go out there n save souls for the who had called us out of darkness into the light.. Contribution to Bible study  Luke 9;1-17
To work for God primarily He must have called us. We did not call ourself and when He called us He gave us power over everything, forces of darkness, diseases and so on so we can perform the way He wants us to. As a believer we have divine power embedded within us and we should use it as God expects us to. There is no excuse that I am too young or old with the assignment God has given to us.
God has sent us to preach heal "taking nothing for it". Salvation was given to us free even though Jesus paid the price therefore preaching to someone or praying for someone who later gets their healing we shouldn't start charging them like its some pay as you go service. Having said that when people bless you materially or financially you can accept but don't make it a priority.
Also  preaching the word or healing the  sick should start from our home front it's useless if we don't allow such charity to begin at home.
The assignment God has given us is in line with our ultimate purpose in life so we shouldn't be reluctant or start questioning God's authority.

When we reach out to people to share the goodnews we shouldn't impose it on them or force it on them so to say. If you witness to someone and they refuse to heed to it you don't have the right to keep shoving it at their face remember it's the Holy Spirit that can make that change you are just an instrument.
With the bit of Herod I liken it to laws governing the world now some countries do not encourage evangelism or anything to do with Jesus but that shouldn't stop us. Whatever we do let us inquire of God and let Him lead us. Because you leave in UK od USA don't be intimidated by the laws of the land therefore leaving the unsaved souls to perish. You must fulfill your Heavenly father's wish.
Also we must have clear understanding that the journey is not going to be smooth, trials persecution and mockery will come as a result of our faith. It can even come from your loved ones but your goal is populating Heaven so you must be focused and ask for grace to carry on in Jesus name amen.
When people we witness to experience the power of God they too will witness to others. We must also know that God is Jehovah Jireh the only one who provides divinely and never lack so when we are in lack we need to believe and put our faith to work this is the case of the fish and loaves of bread that fed the multitude.  Jeaus could have done what the disciples suggested but he asked them what they have and from that little He fed multitudes. So even the least thing can be the channel of abundance to us and others.
We must always remember that our help is from above not from men even if men help us it is the doing of the Lord. He knows about it.

I hope my detailed contribution is explanatory enough. I pray that God will give us better insight into His word. The Holy Spirit will lead us right. We will fulfill purpose, the grace, wisdom and compassion needed to do His work according to His will God will grant us in Jesus name amen.
All trials or lack that is propmting us to look back or quit God will sought us out and give us victory in Jesus name amen.
Let us run this race depending on God for everything.

Hmmm, I definitely agree with your point sis Leah..amen to the prayer.

I had a discussion with some of my friends last night and it was an opening for me (as a young person in this generation). We all have so much to do as Christians. God has given some much power and authority to demonstrate to the world that we are Christians but are we showing the world...no?? Intact the people in the church and the people in world have no difference. This is not the original plan of God (Jesus) for us.

Like sis Leah said, it is our responsibility to know the ministry God has called us to be. Whenever, which ministry God called us to...we are rest assured that we have all the backings for it. So like the disciples...Jesus gave them that assurance that all the resources we needed is supplied to us. Imagine 5loaves of bread and 2 fishes feeding thousands. This is an assurance that of the bible says in Matthew 6:33 (when u seek his kingdom/do what he has called you to/ preach his word) then all your needs and needs in that ministry will be met.

Bottomline: when we yield to God (preach, heal, raise the dead) our needs will met. The needs even in that ministry will be met and we will be a blessing to people...when we bless/meet their needs, they get drawn to God (the supplier of their needs)
