Theme: Power of Intercession
Text: Isaiah 55:5-7, Acts 12:5-12

Glory be to God for another wonderful day and grace to wait on Him again. He alone deserves all our praise. Hallelujah.

Previous message on this theme, two types or ways in which intercession come about was established. It is clear that intercession is birth by information received either through the Holy Spirit or physical occurrence.

In the Bible the story of Job remains one that shows how powerful God can be before, in trials and after trials of faith in a believer's life.
"And it was so, that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.  Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.  So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the Lord commanded them: the Lord also accepted Job.  And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before."
Job 42:7‭-‬10 KJV

From the highlighted scripture it's clear how Job received his breakthrough after praying for his friends. Intercession can be a tool to breakthrough. Sometimes you need to sow the seed of prayer in the life of others for God to move mountains off your ways. Many of us desire breakthrough but we often focus on praying just for ourselves only even when the urge to pray for others is high in our heart. Job obeyed God by praying for his friends, he didn't say well they hurt me, they spoke against my faith, he didn't hold their misbehaviour against them instead he obeyed God and God turned arround his captivities replacing his loss with abundance.

In Exodus 32:31-32 Moses interceded on behalf of the children of Israel even he mentioned that God should blot his name(moses) out of God's book just to have mercy on the children of Israel. The passion behind such intercession shows love for souls and not just for position or recognition. When we intercede we need to do it without holding a price to it. It is God who answers prayers not us we are just vessels. Moses did not get to the promise land due to him doing what God didn't ask him to do but his leadership and periods of praying for Israelites worked even after his death. When we intercede for others it's not wise to claim the strength or glory because it all belongs to God and it's from God.

Intercession goes a long way, it works from generations to generations. If you engage in interceeding for your lineage their life will be much better and exemplary, filled with faith in God more than yours because you have built the foundation in intercessory prayer.

Stephen in Acts 7:60 prayed for his murders that God shouldn't hold the sin against them. Our lord Jesus Christ likewise did thesame "Father forgive them for they know not what they do"Luke 23:24. Intercessions involves praying for people who even disagree with you. The power you release in such prayer saves souls and populate heaven in otherwords you can intercede for those who hurt you that God should save their soul, forgive you and them.

If the christians in the days of Paul had interceeded for him to die how would he have become sold out for Christ reaching the unreachable with the word of God and putting his life on the line just for the sake of the gospel. How do you intercede for your oppressors? The power in intercession can turn a confirmed witch, wizard ot witch doctor into an evangelist and apostle. I pray God will speak to us and teach us right on how to intercede for others and even our selves in Jesus name.

Let us Pray
Lord I thank you for another opportunity to receive your word today in Jesus name

Lord almighty have mercy on me and forgive my sins in Jesus name

Father instill in me the power and spirit of intercession in Jesus name

Lord almighty as I intercede for others let me experience breakthrough in Jesus name

Father you alone can do what no man can do revive my soul from the pit or state of prayerlessness in Jesus name

Lord Jesus as I pray for my lineage, generation, community and nation move mightily in our midst in Jesus name

Father I decree change of state from grass to grace and grace to abundance grace in and around me in Jesus name

Lord remove every problems that are longstanding off my life as you did for Job in Jesus name

Thank you father for answered prayers in Jesus name
