Power of Intercession

Theme: Power of Intercession
Text: Isaiah 77:6-7, Acts 12:5-12

All glory honour and adoration belongs to God for another opportunity to wait Him today He alone deserves the glory in Jesus name

Power as is widely known is the capacity to do thing in a certain way and Intercession is the act of doing things on behalf of other to get a certain result. So Power of Intercession is the capacity to do things on behalf of others to get a particluar result.

In one of the Text, "Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.  And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.  And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.  And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.  And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.  When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.  And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.  And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying."

Peter got a divine intervention as a result of Intercession. In the case of Peter it was an intercession done due to
Received information; it is a very common type of intercession and it can be a bit easy to go about. When you receive unpleasant information about someone or even a pleasant one you can pray on their behalf for a glorious result of glorious outcome with or without the knowledge of the person. While the church were praying for Peter, he was sleeping in the prison but people who deem it necessary made intercession to God. This shows how important and powerful/impactful joint prayers are. Deuteronomy 32:30 highlights how the efforts of two people will be more than that of one person,2 Chronicles 7:14 explains how God will answer if the people gather with humility and pray.

Another type of intercession is
Spirit led Intersession; this type of intercession just like the other is based on information the different isthe information is spirit led. Your spirit man is stirred up by the Holy Spirit and made to agree on a particular thing and just pray about it. For example you could be walking and Holy Spirit will drop something in your heart to pray about, sometimes it has nothing to do with you but at that point God wants you to be the vessel to carry that duty out. Often times the intercession made averts a lot of mishap or even reduce the impact it could have had.

Intercession should not just be done due to our knowledge or pride, we need to humble ourselves before God and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us. It is a blessing to be used to intercede on behalf of others,sometimes it can be prayers for people in places or country you have never dreamt of or being but God just want you to pray for them.

At times it can be intercession for leaders of all capacity, for prisoners, for children for marriages e.t.c. I pray the Lord will forever see us as useful vessel. One thing that should be avoided while you are prompted to intercede is procrastination the Bible says "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord , and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." Isaiah 55:6‭-‬7 KJV
The urgency and effectiveness of an intercessor can lead to speedy report. Don't be a judge on who to be interceded for or not, don't question God on why you must intercede for someone. Sometimes God puts a prayer in our hearts for people who have even hurts us just because He is most powerful and He knows we are the right vessel for such task.

Things like sin of the person of people being interceeded for or the intercessors can be an hinderance that is why it is essential to live a holy and righteous life but God is a merciful God and according to His word He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy on. Don't hold back on interceeding for anyone because you are aware of their short comings go to God in prayer of mercy and He who alone can answer will prove Himself great.

My prayer is may our disobedience or human perceptions will not hinder our blessings or that of others in Jesus name.

Let us pray

Lord thank you for the grace to wait on you this period again in Jesus name

Lord almighty have mercy on me and forgive my short comings in Jesus name

Jehovah forgive me in anyway I have disobeyed you especially in praying for others in Jesus name

Lord renew my spirit man and let me always yield to your prompting to pray for others where need be in Jesus name

Lord Jesus when I do pray for others, never let me wait to receive a crown or reward from them but you alone in Jesus name

Lord grant me grace to always be a useful vessel to you in place of prayer and other places in Jesus name

Father raise mountain moving prayer intercessors in this generation starting from me in Jesus name

Lord in the body of Christ revive every dying fire of prayer intercession in Jesus mighty name

Thank you father for answered prayers in Jesus name.
