*Topic:* What legacy are you leaving? 

*Anchor :* Sister Leah 

 Heavenly father we say thank you for the awesome opportunity to dwell in your presence and gather to share your word. Thank you for our lives thank you for where you have brought us from where we are now and where we are going. We ask lord that you take preeminence in the programme speak to us as individual let the word be yours and not down to the knowledge of man and let all glory return to you for what you have done in Jesus mighty name  

Amen 

 This evening we will be discussing on  

*_What legacy are you leaving?_*

 To start with what is legacy... 

What do you understand by the word 

*Sis A:* a gift of property, especially personal property, as money, by will 

*Sis S:* Legacy is something bequeathed to someone 

*Sis O:* An amount of money or property left to someone in a will. 

*Sis D:* Legacy is a foot prints what you are known for 

 *Sis S:* It could be material or immaterial 

 

 Legacy is something left behind for someone by a person who has passed on.. 

Often time legacy can be in monetary value, property e.t.c 

 *_I like this a foot print you are known for... This is more like a living legacy _*

Praise God 

 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers in a pure conscience, how unceasing is my remembrance of thee in my supplications, night and day longing to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; having been reminded of the unfeigned faith that is in thee; which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and, I am persuaded, in thee also. 

2 Timothy 1:3‭-‬5 ASV 

 

In the above verse apostle Paul was talking here and what we see is referring to a kind of legacy left by a grandmother to a mother and the child. Legacy doesn't and should not just be limited to just a generation 

Legacy is not only and should not be about material things alone 

Yesterday was mother's Day in some parts of the world 

And it's so interesting what we get to read 

 About mother's grandmother and mother in law adopted mother  Or whichever applies 

It is asking how you read something and you can just see that some spiritual legacy last longer than any physical or material ones.

I read one tribute to mother that  of Kirk Franklin and he posted the picture of his adoptive mother and how she was the one who laid foundation of faith for him to walk on in life 

But unfortunately she had passed on. I know many of us have watched and said our review on the train movie but we can see vividly that this man is currently a living legacy and not that alone he is leaving legacy not just for biological family but spiritual ones as well.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with living a legacy that is physical for your family 

To be honest it's not wrong or bad idea to have your will done now, Yes 

That doesn't mean you will die tomorrow's but what it means is you planning ahead But in African community we look at will as something that should be left for later life.

But that is the teaching for another day 

Let us look at the scripture Lois was a prayerful woman not only was she her daughter Eunice was fire brand prayer warrior 

And the impact on the next generation was evident to apostle Paul.

 

My question to you and I is what type of legacy are we leaving or living.

Remember the movie war room, Remember miss Clara in that movie 

When she was about to sell her property the couple that eventually got the property walked into her prayer closet 

And they could feel divine presence. She left a legacy of divinity in that home Not knowing that the next occupant will benefit from it 

As God will have it they were believers as well.

 This now brings me into further question but let's look at the scripture below ; And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. 

1 Timothy 5:13 KJV 

 

Look at the word busybodies... 

We all might or kind of know what that word means 

People who will never mind their own business 

They are up and about in other people's business 

My question is how do you raise a godly child or if you're the type that all you do is busybody 

Forgetting their own problems 

That Bible Verse says  

They learn to be idle, that is idleness becomes their PhD they go about people's house telling tales, in fact this days all they need is internet data or WiFi and they are off gossiping about yet you say your child will never keep quiet when you talk to others 

Children learn from you and they are fast and competent learners 

They will even go beyond your own level 

They become better than you 

They say snitches get stiches 

They learn from you without you not noticing it.

They end up getting into trouble in the midst of their mate because they can't keep any secret 

Whatever they hear is like fetching water in a basket it reaches beyond the post of the basket 

Then you blame them when you as a parent is highly blessed on idleness and busybodies 

But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. 

1 Timothy 5:8 KJV 

 

Do you know legacy is a form of provision? 

If you choose to be idle and be chief of army staff of gossip you are providing a legacy that will eventually ruin your generation of its not addressed 

Any women fall into this category 

My question remains what type of legacy are you leaving? 

What are you showing that child? 

Some are great fighters and in fact they have Bsc in cursing 

Yet they wonder why their life and that of their children is moving in just one cycle 😡😒.

You are the architect of the mishap 

But it is very important that you address it on time.

Leaving a good legacy has to be continuous way of life 

There is nothing God cannot repair 

Yes 

Some of us leave legacy of being fake 

The slaying fakers of the social media generation.

They present themselves as what they are not 

Not being real 

May God deliver them 

And they wonder why their children lie or forge things 

Always remember you are a custodian 

God is the real parent of that child or children and one day you and I will give account of what we have done.

 

 

We will tell Him what went wrong  And remember before God your senses aren't going to be taking over because He sees it all before you even go into the conversation 

This evening if by any chance you take no morals.

Please take the truth you will account to God 

That child or children deserves better and you can give that better 

God has given you the ability.

My prayer is our generation will live to thank God for our lives 

If Christ tarries 

Amen 

It doesn't matter if you're yet to be a mother you must out the right attitude in place 

They say your attitude can determine your altitude. Same with your generation 

*Let us pray*

Father thank you for the word this evening 

Lord forgive me in any way I have being living a wrong and deceptive legacy 

Let mercy speak for me in Jesus name amen.

Father help me to be true and godly person in life 

Daddy help me in Jesus name.

Father let my generation be blessed by my legacy either the one I am currently living or the one I will be leaving when I transition into glory.

 

Father whatever evil legacy that has kept my family in a position against your will remove them this day and out an end to it 

Lord eternal whatever I struggle with as a parent that wants to keep me below the right godly legacy grant me deliverance henceforth 

personal Prayer 

Thank you Abba father for answered prayers in Jesus name 

Amen 🙏

*Sis O* How do a mother that has been used to beating a child stops? 

*Sis K:* How can we pass a message like this to a neighbour that believes she knows it all or a friend 

*Anchor:* You are the culprit 😃😃

*Sis D:* And pray to God for patience 

 

*Anchor;*

The first question is can you bite your tongue non stop till it bleeds just because 😂 you drank a hot drink and your taste bud is not back 

Beating a child will not automatic wrong the rights 

I will see the mother herself needs to be disciplined 

What I mean is when you feel like you are about to eat the child discipline yourself by cautioning yourself 

Look for an alternative instead 

*Sis D;* Like kneel down and raise /spread your hands 

*Anchor:* There are other ways aside beating please it's not good when it's becoming too much so you don't make that child believe that the best way for anything to be right in their life is through receiving beating please don't create a monster in the name of correction 

Yes ma'am 

Take their toys away 

Switch TV off 

Get some books out tell them to read and tell you the story.

*Sis D:* Or you tell the child to hold his/her ears and go up and down 

*Anchor:* Give them a chapter in Bible to read and tell them to explain what they understand 

Keep them busy 

Tell the child to stay in namaste position and meditate 

With that they just go to sleep after all the exercises 

And use naughty corner 

Tell them to be reciting poem from there 

If the child is a talkative 

Tell them to go to naughty corner and read the lord's prayer quietly 

Like 10times

 

Answer to 2nd question;

*Sis D:* Firstly I will say pray to God to help you see how you can interpret it to how the person will understand it 

 Prayer is important you can't change anyone except God touch their heart. It is important you pray about it and ask that the Holy spirit direct you on how to go about it.

 Above all pray for them and don't treat them like they are failures 

I believe there is no more question 

Please I want us to pray for all health care workers always not just the ones we know but worldwide. many can easily say no but it's not that easy for health care worker. 

Let us pray for divine protection of God upon them and decree that God puts an end to the death among health care workers and all nations at large in Jesus name
