Don't choose life partner in the heat of the moment

*Don't choose your life partner in the heat of the moment*

As a single person especially if you are of marriageable age, the pressure might or is mounting on you to bring a spouse.

It might be a direct or an indirect pressure, at times many end up dancing to the tune of the pressure and in the heat of the moment they bring or end up with someone who turns their direction away from the destination God has given them.

There certainly was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do evil in the sight of the Lord , because Jezebel his wife incited him. He acted very repulsively in following idols, in accordance with everything the Amorites had done, whom the Lord expelled [from the land] before the sons of Israel.  Now when Ahab heard these words [of Elijah], he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and fasted, and he lay in sackcloth and went about dejectedly (mourning). Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, “Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the evil (catastrophe) in his lifetime, but in his son’s days I will bring evil upon his house.”
1 Kings 21:25‭-‬29 AMP

Looking at the story above, Ahab was king over Israel and he was married to Jezebel.

In our last meeting on zoom I said it takes the making of a real queen to have a made king.

Jezebel was devilish, she was filled with all tactics and attitudes that rules against the will of God all the time. Ahab wanted to buy the land of Naboth but Naboth refused to sell stating that he can't sell his inheritance.

Ahab became very restless and worried, remember he was the king, his wife Jezebel came in and asked him what the problem was which he narrated to her.

She went on to device mischief that led to the death of Naboth and drew the wrath of God upon Ahab and his generation.

If you read verse 21 it's stated that Jezebel incited Ahab to do evil and when God gave his commandments of wrath that will befall Ahab and his household you would have thought it was too much.

The truth is when you marry someone who drives you away from your purpose you end up being at war with God and His plan for you.

Ahab humbled himself and asked for mercy which God forgave him but the curse and wrath passed on to his children.

What lesson can we learn here do not end up in a journey that will ruin you due to the heat of the moment.

Anything that pleases your flesh at the moment but displease God almighty can be classified as the heat of the moment.

There is a journey to walk and a destination to fulfill in marital life more important than what you see presently.

It may seem like old fashion to seek God before getting married to anyone but I want to encourage you God is the ancient of days but He is never old fashioned to meet us right at the point we need Him especially in marital choice and journey.

My prayer is none of us will mismarry in Jesus name.

The lord will guide and order our steps right in Jesus name
