Text: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21 KJV

To God be the glory
Great things He hath done
So loved He the world
That He gave us His son
Who yielded His life
An atonement for sin
And opened the life gate
That all may go in

Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord
Let the earth hear His voice
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord
Let the people rejoice
Oh come to the father
Through Jesus the son
And give Him the glory
Great things He hath done

Glory be to the Most High king who does great things. Starting this message with songs of praises is a great sign that My God is the doer of great things and He never stops doing great things because He is great and can never stop being great Hallelujah.

I want to talk about how we use our tongue. From the text above we can see that the power of life and death is in the tongue and the benefit or outcome of what the tongue is used for can be vivid.

In as much as word pronounced out of the mouth fills the air the moment it is pronounced yet it can remain powerful even decades after the words has been said.

Our tongue is an instrument we use daily from communicating to aiding us to swallow and stopping us from drowling because the muscle holds back a lot of things. Having said that we sometimes take no importance to the power our tongue carries.

To be an achiever you need to watch what you allow your tongue to pronounce even in the face of any adversity. You must be conscious of what power your utterance carry.

It is easy to get carried away saying all kind of things just because it seem right for that time but it might dent the future. For example these days the type of generalized street words used are the type where the negative is used to express what is right but as a believer we shouldn't be carried away by worldly doctrine in anyway at all.

No matter what is said to be the norm in the world or where you reside you need to stand out. For example people call their children "cheeky monkey" and they seem to find it hilarious. To start with my child isn't a monkey and my child is the image of God. If I cannot refer to God almighty as cheeky monkey no matter the age of my child or the authority I assume or I have over that child I shouldn't be referring to my child or anyone's child in that way.

The enemy is very cruel and he is aware of the diverse changes happening in this world and different conformity believers are getting into therefore he will always give reasons why some things said or you feel like saying isn't as bad as you presume it is because you are a believer.

There are some house or home so to say where their utterance are just so vile and bad that the environment is so toxic due to the type of communication that comes up in such environment.

The Bible says bad association corrupts good manner. Using your tongue right but hanging around where the environment is constantly toxic if care isn't taken you can find yourself speaking in that way.

But if indeed you are regenerated people will see that your words are carefully chosen and your tongue isn't just used for using sake or for making attendance of people who want to talk.

The only way our tongue can be duly sanctified and our utterances can be saving is by detoxing what comes into our mind. That includes what we read, hear, listen to. So from the news to the misic to the mind of discussion we get engaged in. You can choose to be somewhere and choose not to get involve in things that will spoil your mode of communication.

The Holy Spirit is always available to convict us when we do wrong and to guide us always but it is our duty to yield to His leading.

What is your tongue doing beloved friend? What is your tongue condemning?
What is your tongue pronouncing?
Is your tongue talking about great things God has done?

Every word we utter will be accounted for on judgement day. It's not too late to restrategise the use of our tongue and ensure it brings glory to God always.

Let us pray

Mighty father thank you for your awesome presence and word that saves in Jesus name

Lord have mercy and forgive me in anyway I have been misusing the power in my tongue in Jesus name

Holy Spirit I need you to constantly guide me to think and say right even in the face of adversity or life challenges in Jesus name

Today I decree freedom upon my life from every spoken words affecting my life and destiny in Jesus name

Henceforth I decree my utterances will be positive and godly in Jesus name
