Key to Rest

Father we worship your name. We give you all praise and glory because you alone deserve it. We thank you for privilege to gather to study and share your word as it impacts our life. We thank you for you will enlighten us. We thank you for your word and will alone will stand. We thank you for these words will not stand against us on judgement day. Lord we pray that your spirit takes control. We ask all flesh to be subdued as you have your way in Jesus mighty name.
Below is the topic and Bible verse for today and apologies for not posting I early so we could all have had our personal study pre- the programme this evening.

*Topic:* Key🗝 to Rest

*Text:* Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 KJV

Today we will discussing or more like studying on *key 🗝 to rest*

In your own words what is *Rest*

*Rest* is a duration of silence or relaxing.

*Key* is any device used to unlock in order to gain access

So *Key to rest* can be analysed as the device or means to getting silence or form of relaxation perse
Rest is also stopping what you are doing  or to take a break
The word of God says in Matthew 11:28 that we should come unto Him all of us who are burdened with heavy loads and circumstances, all that are feeling downtrodden, all that feel rejected, all that feel overwhelmed, all that feel let down, all the feel like all hope is list, all that feels like they have no breathing space cause when they intend to something just comes up and it just feel like you are over working or over stressing yourself.

The word of God says Come *I will give you rest*
Rest is a vital part of every day life. We are made to understand that even after God created heaven and earth He rested on the 7th day which many now refer to as Sabbath some take their rest of Sabbath on Saturdays while others opt for Sunday or Friday but having said that it's just a religious observation for those who set those days aside at times.
It can be very difficult to function in the right God ordained capacity at times if we do not have adequate rest.

Say for example you work 7days a week 7am to 11.30pm have 2hours journey home on getting home it's around 1.30am and you need to be up by 5.30am to get ready for another 2hours journey
Such a person will collapse one day
The truth is God wired our body in a way that when it needs vital rest it will shut down of the rest isn't taken
If you keep going non stop that is when you develop some health issues, you can develop from high blood pressure to other stress related disorder.

At times people are advised by their doctor to be on bed rest for certain days. This could be as a result of their body not function to its capacity because the body has overworked or because dangers that lay ahead if rest is not taken.
Even functioning under exhaustion your brain will hardly function right because it needs time to stay off thinking and analyzing to rest and reboot
This is what happens when physically we are drained..

But today we are looking at the Key to rest and from the Bible verse it is so clear that the only key to the kind of rest that befits us spiritually, physically and other aspects is Jesus Christ.
That is why the word say come to Me. In Christ alone is the kind of rest that will give us peace even in the midst of turmoil.

In Christ alone can we get the kind of joy that comes in the heat of life and the Unsettled situation of storms that rise.

You may be wondering but can God actually give me the rest I need. The truth is if he won't do it He will not say it
In Mathew 8:23-27
And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.  And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.  And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.  And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.  But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Something significant happened here Jesus and the disciples were on a mission trip. They were journeying in a boat and as they were going a storm rose against them Infact the ship ⛵ was covered in waves of water tossing them back and forth

The disciples were terrified. Remember they have seen Him perform wonders prior to this. And when this storm was pushing them up and down they woke Him up.. remember we serve the God who never sleep nor slumber but here Jesus was on earth 100%man and 100%God. He exhibited the character of a man who needs to rest post mission duties

They were terrified😔🥵🥶😱 what is going on here we are going to drain... And he looked at th and said *o ye of little faith?* He stood up and rebukes the wind and the sea became calm instantly. The disciples marvelled at the wonders that took place just by Jesus saying to the sea to stop. They were like what manner of man is this that even the winds and sea obey Him.

At times in life we feel like the disciples or we are like the disciples. We have Jesus in the boat of our life but any little disruption we start crying AWOL... Like what is going on here

Many are times we seek God's face regarding situations in our lives and at times for such to have a turn around there is often a tempest like the wind that unravels our comfort zone. Then we start panicking.

We start saying but God I serve you

But God is have been doing this

But God this

But God that

Infact we nearly forget that Jesus is right there with us that we at times seek for alternatives
Yet all Jesus is saying is come unto me...
The only way and means we can get rest in situations in life is through Jesus
He is the key to the rest we so long for and desire in life.

He is the one who soothes our heels even when we walk on hit coals and broken bottles of life and yet we are expected to plaster a smile and Halleluyah praise in our mouth😄💃🏽
The type of rest Jesus gives to us is not thesame rest the doctor can recommend. The kind of rest where your battle is fought without you making a move.

The rest that God wants to give you superceed that financial settlement you are dreaming of
His home is lighter so when we go to Him we exchange our own k
neck breaking, back damaging heavy laden for his lighter yoke
Hallelujah...

Isn't that rest
Sometimes you find yourself in a career or job that just drains you or relationship that drain whatever makes you feel qualified to be human.  Yet you are unsure how can you get out. What can you do. How and when will the breakthrough come.

The lord is saying one to me. Let me sought it out for you. You deserve the rest. You are overdue for rest. You are better off with me giving you the rest you need
The riches and other perishable thing belonging to this world cannot bring you rest. But riches acquired through Christ can do more than you can ever imagine.

God is offering you and I Himself as the key to rest, Are you willing to actually take His offer?
You must drop all baggages holding you back either sin or whatever it may be God is saying come now, I am not going to hold your past against you I just want you to come
I know you are not able to carry on but come unto me I will show you the way. I will give you the strength you need.

But this request is for those who indeed want His rest.
Those who indeed believe He is great God and the one who can pull them through.

Let us pray

Say lord thank you for this wonderful evening for the wonderful word you have given to us this day

Almighty God help me to actually let go and come to you as you
Have called me to

Some of the heavenly blessings we must enjoy even right on earth we need Jesus to do so.

Say father come and take control of all that burned s my life in Jesus name

Father take off all stressful situation affecting my life, goals and dreams away in Jesus name

Lord I yield them all before you all that has caused me pain either from.my time of existence or afterwards in Jesus name

I enter henceforth into the rest of Christ in all aspect of my life in Jesus name

*Begin to claim the rest of God overall your circumstances even those that are tarrying*
