Lessons from Leviticus 3 to 4

Following up on the previous chapters which explained the burnt offering and the grain offerings.

Leviticus 3 explained the procedures for the peace offering. The peace offering from my research is a freewill offering offered to God. It stems down from generation to generation.

Leviticus 3:1-5
States instructions that needs to be adhered to in choosing the animal for peace offering. The instructions specified that it could be male or female animal however, it must not have defects. Just like the previous types of offerings, Aaron's sons must perform the necessary rights as they were the priests. However, I noted that in this peace offering part of it must be separated as special offerings to God, it included the internal organs, the two kidneys, the fat around the loins and the liver they must be removed and burned specially as aroma to the Lord.

Leviticus 3:6-11
Continues in highlighting the steps needed to follow if the animals was part of the flock, the person offering the offering must lay their hands on it in front of the tabernacle and Aaron's sons will complete the remaining part of the offerings.

Leviticus 3:12-17

Explains the procedure for offering goat as an offering, it similar to the previous one but the  gender was not specified either male or female. The last verse was a warning, that they must never eat any fat or blood and this warning must be passed from generation to generation.

Reading this makes me appreciate the sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary. In this current age, a lot of us would probably make huge mistake abiding by this procedures and who is to say that you can find a priest or priests that would be able to follow these instructions.

However something stood up to me in this scripture, the animal for offerings must have no defect, in otherwords, you can't offer something defective  to God and expect His blessings. You can't eat your seed either because He warned against eating the fat and the blood. The Bible says in Leviticus 17:11-14 that the life of a creature is in the blood. John 12:24 says except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die it remains a seed but when it dies it bears much fruit. So this scripture depicts the importance of obedience of offering to God, a man who is keen on obeying God's instruction will definitely walk in the supernatural but thank God for the blood shed on Calvary that has replaced all these offerings.

Leviticus 4

Chapter 4 is about the procedures for the sin offering

Leviticus 4:1-12
This chapter is about the offering to offer when you sin unintentionally as an Israelite then.  The scripture clearly stated the hierarchy of sin, if the priest sin, they bring guilt upon the community. The priest themselves must perform this procedures. This shows that God is not the respecter of any man and no one is infallible. However, they must not hide under their Title that they are priests so they are permitted to commit sin and just sweep it under the carpet or look away as if it never happened.

This situation here, will humble any leader, because you have a position or Title doesn't make you higher or equal to God. God will be God and man will remain man. This is another reason we must pray for leaders so they do not allow the power to get into their head in a way they equalise themselves to God and not repent where need be.

Leviticus 4:13 -21

If the entire community committed an unknown sin against God they must still pay as they are guilty when they are aware of their sin, they must bring a young bull and the elders must lay hands on the head of the young bull. The necessary process must be adhered to fully  so that the sin can be atoned and the people can be free.

In a way there was no excuse not to offer sin offering, and this was a team effort,  it's not like part of the community must pay, all of them must pay so all of them can be forgiven. Isn't it amazing to see that people stand in unity having thesame goal of seeking the face of God for mercy. I can liken this to praying for mercy for nations or your nation, you can't say God forgive me because I am not like those people, you must ask for mercy for everyone even those who did not know their ways are bringing attrocities to the Land. You are in the Light and through you, light must shine above darkness.

Leviticus 4:22-26

Here it highlights that even if a leader sin and God is not aware which I find to be ridiculous because God is Omnipotent and Omnipresent so nothing is hidden from Him. But assuming He didn't see it that person can't hide under the disguise that they were not caught in the act they must still atone for their sin, they must use a male goat with no defect, the priest must complete the process to purify the leader so that He can be forgiven by the Lord.

Leviticus 4:27-31
If any other person who is not a leader sin, they must sacrifice a female goat and the process must be adhered to thoroughly to purify the people. So in those days sins and atonement of sin has an hierarchy.

Leviticus 3:32-35

Here it explains about the type of animal and the gender that should be accepted for each sin offering and what the priest must do to set the people free from sin and facilitate their forgiveness.

In all  we must thank God again and again for the death of Jesus on Calvary because, Jesus paid for these sins in my place and your place. The sacrifice on Calvary was not based on the hierarchy of sin, or who we are, be you leader or follower, young or old, Jesus paid for us equally. If only we can imagine His blood replacing all these sacrifices we will live always for Him and appreciate our salvation more. Not just that alone, we will be keen to bring people to the Light which is Jesus Christ.

Thank you Jesus for Salvation.

Thank you Lord for saving me. Hallelujah!
