Lessons from Pralms 23 to 24

Psalms 23
This Psalms is famously Known as 'The Lord is my shepherd' and it is a Psalm by David.

Psalm 23:1-6 ESV
[1] The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. [2] He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. [3] He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. [4] Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. [5] You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. [6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Although Psalms 23 has just 6 verses but it is a powerfully packed Psalm.  This Psalms shows us that God is the main provider and our main source. So want is not in his diary because He is the Great and Good shepherd. We often listen to songs with lyrics that says God leaves the 99 to chase after one which is deduced from Luke 15:4-7.  A shepherd will always ensure the safety, protection and overall needs and wants of the sheep is provided. God is the Great Shepherd who will always supply all we need.

This chapter talks about restoration not just wants only but what we lost can be restored by God, just as He did for Job in the Bible. Then it highlight the confidence we gather even when we walk in places or find ourselves in situations that will naturally break our human power but we will fear no evil because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world 1 John 4:4.  Then He is the God who is never afraid of our enemies because according to this Psalm He will prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies and we will have more than enough because our cup will overflow. Hallelujah! His goodness and mercy will always follow us because we will dwell in the house of God forever. To be honest if you live for God and understand that you are His temple, you are already dwelling in Him and when we transition we will continue to dwell in Him forever.

Psalms 24

This is a Psalms that talks about the majesty of God and it is written by David'

Psalm 24:1-5 ESV
[1] The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, [2] for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. [3] Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? [4] He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. [5] He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

This Psalms starts with letting us understand that God owns everything on this earth, nothing is owned by any man. Some might argue this by saying some things were created by man. However, the truth is all that man created on this earth was already on this earth. Reading Genesis 1: 1-end  will give better clarity into this. then the Psalmist asked a question that was instantly answered about the worthiness of those who can ascend to the hills of God or stand before Him and the answer is those who are holy. Our God is a perfect God, in as much as we can explain it away as human that we are imperfect it doesn't justify the continuity of living an unholy life. If you desire to dwell in God and live in His presence forever. Holiness leads a man to the presence of God always.

Psalms 24:5-10

Psalm 24:6-10 ESV
[6] Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah [7] Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. [8] Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle! [9] Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. [10] Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah

The latter part of this chapter shows to us that God alone is the King of glory, no gates, no authority, no power can hinder His movement. Because He is strong and mighty in battle. Not even ancient doors, ancient territories, ancient decrees can stop His move because God alone is the ancient of days.

What I can deduce from this, is that nothing can stop the love of God, nothing can hinder His authority. So if I am in Christ and He is in me nothing can stop me because the King of glory lives in me. This is another confidence that David had, going to any battle, he was aware of the God he served and always gave Him the reverence due to Him. So I want to encourage you to live for and in God if you want to enjoy this realm of supernatural in Christ Jesus.

May God give us more understanding in Jesus name amen.
