What is your House Built on?

When I hear the word house what comes to my heart is shelter. Then the structure, beauty, interior decor. I love good things, simple, nice but unique. One thing I have come to discover about life is you cannot have it all in life.

If you have it all in life, it's very easy to turn yourself to a mini god. That is why the richest person on earth still lack something just as the poorest will lack something but there is a difference. Looking at the Bible passage below, Jesus Christ gave a parable about foundation of a house. On thing that is common in every building is shelter but the foundation always vary.

Matthew 7:24-27 KJV "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it."

For example if you build your house near the seashore and their is a prediction of Tsunami or Hurricane you will either leave the house to save your life or stay in their and perish with it. Houses built even on a solid foundation on earth still face risk of collapsing or demolition if situations around them change for the worse.

From my perspective I see our heart as our shelter and house. What we allow to stay and become part of it will affect our thought. It can be as simple as the type of word you use or the type of words you hear day in day out. If you don't allow it to stay in you by not dwelling on it it is good but it depends on the impact of the word maybe it's positive or negative.

The word of God says where your treasure is that is where your heart is. So your heart shelters the thoughts in you. As a child of God it is essential to meditate on the word of God.

Joshua1:8" this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth,  but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous,  and then you will have good success."(NKJV)

Most house even from the outside describes the personality of people that lives inside it. You can not be hygienic and leave the outside of your house pilled up with rubbish or allow people to use it as a refuse dump that is impossible.  Thesame thing applies to your heart you cannot be of good thoughts and produce awful conducts. Your thought will reflect in your ways and your words. Your words and ways will depend on what your feed yourself with which is your foundation.

Taking a foreigner in a country for example,  the first couple of years they live in the foreign land they refer to their mother land as home and wherever they are as a pilgrim. Even when the situation in their mother land is unpleasant its still home to them. Generations of such foreigner born in the foreign land will see the foreign land as home because that is where they were born or raised up. They are into the culture of their adopted home land. Many are so into the ways of this world that they forget that they are strangers on  earth and one day they will have to return but where there home will be is questionable.

The foundation of your house must be solid enough to withstand any weather. The only solid foundation in life is Jesus Christ. If you don't know Him or you are yet to know Him, you need to come home to Him. It might look unreal that a God that creates can punish His creation. He loves the sinner but hates the sin in them.

What do you feed your heart with my friend and how does it affect the foundation of your house. You wouldn't go to the market to buy anything and everything you see to fill your house. You will only go for what will benefit you in the house.

Today dear friend God wants you and I to check the foundation of our house. Is it built on Christ the solid rock or is it standing on the tides of life.  Do you dwell on minor while you ignore the major. Do you allow the world to dictate where your destiny lies or you allow God to do that?

The refrian of a hymn goes thus:
On Christ the Solid Rock I stand
All other grounds is sinking sand
All other grounds is sinking sand

Christ Jesus is the only solid rock anyone can build or stand on. He is the only unchangeable Changer. Invisible but He does visible things. He is the hope of the hopeless. He is the shelter, strong tower and refuge. He is God.

Lord Jesus you are my firm foundation and my house is built on you alone I can't deny that.

What about you friend, Do you have a relationship with Jesus invite Him to your life today so that your foundation can become solid and heavenly.

Lord Jesus I acknowledge I am a sinner. Have mercy on me and forgive all my sins. I accept you as my Lord and saviour henceforth rule and reign in my life. I want to know you more in Jesus name amen.

Congratulations welcome to the fold of sons and daughters of God. Look for a Bible believing Church to fellowship with other believers and grow more in the Lord. God bless you.
