Father in heaven we worship you. We exalt you for who you are to us. We give you all praise. Lord we thank you for this evening. Thank you for the grace to gather again. We ask Lord for grace this evening. Speak to us Lord through the speaker; we spray you speak even to the speaker as well. Lord we pray that Holy Spirit will take preeminence and your name will forever be glorified in Jesus mighty name.
Amen

This evening I will briefly exhort us from the scripture below.

It was faith that kept Enoch from dying. Instead, he was taken up to God, and nobody could find him, because God had taken him up. The scripture says that before Enoch was taken up, he had pleased God. No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:5‭-‬6 GNT

*Topic:* Walking with God

At some point we must have read or heard about Enoch in the Bible.
How he is the only man that didn't experience death in the Bible.
To walk with God surpasses living a Christian life just for people to see.
Remember God sees what is hidden before all men.
Enoch's walk with God was beyond what people could see; it had to do with  everything about his life.

When Enoch was 65, he had a son, Methuselah. After that, Enoch lived in fellowship with God for 300 years and had other children. He lived to be 365 years old. He spent his life in fellowship with God, and then he disappeared, because God took him away.

Genesis 5:21‭-‬24 GNT

From this scripture reference we can see that Enoch was the father of Methuselah who was recorded to be the man that was oldest in the Bible.
Regardless of how old Methuselah was, God the ancient of days was older than him.
You might be saying how else can I walk with God...
I am a Christian...
I go to church for all midweek services and Sunday service...
I evangelise...
I pay my offerings and tithe...
You can have an endless list but the main thing is you cannot justify your walk with God.
In the days of Enoch the Holy Spirit wasn't there to convict him if he did anything wrong.

Having said that, the Bible recorded that he walked with God until he was no more.

We have probably heard about Rapture.
Dreamt about it.
Heard it preached to us.
Preached about it ourselves.
But the truth is the only ones who will be Rapturable are those found in Christ when that trumpet sounds.

You are thinking...
I still want to finish my undergraduate...
My postgraduate...
My career needs more bloom...
I must get married...
I must build a house...
I must do this...
I must do that...

Expecting the rapture shouldn't stop us from doing whatever our heart's desires or goals are, as long as they are in line with the will of God.
We just need to know that tomorrow is not promised.

Walking with God means being conscious of the fact that this earth isn't our final destination.
Have you ever seen anyone who goes on a journey from a very great place to a place that is temporal and chooses not to return?
Such people I have seen that does that type of thing are missionaries.
Many leave their countries to go to places to reach out with good news of Christ.
This set of people understand that the focus or goal they have is heaven and if they end up living the rest of their lives there a glorious place awaits them in heaven.

Do you ever think of life after this place?

In the days of Enoch was there no sin or sinners?
Yes, there was.
Enoch did get married and he fathered Methuselah but he never lost focus of his walk with God.
Whatever we do here on earth shouldn't shift our focus off our walk with God.
Whatever we do that occupies our lives so much that we have no time for God we should be mindful of such.
There are lots of distractions in the world now.
But the things is there were distractions in the days of many who have walked with God.

No matter how old we get here on earth we can never outlive our days in heaven here on earth.
The life of man on earth is limited.
But when we eventually replace this mortal body with immortal body we will live an unlimited life.

You must have heard when a Christian dies, it is often said that they slept in glory.
If you are indeed in right walk with God, yes you sleep in glory and reign eternally.
I am not teaching to scare anyone but just to remind us to keep in our consciousness that Jesus will return.
It doesn't matter how often you have heard about this.
But none of the word of God returns to Him void.

Are you walking with God?

I do not encourage people to gauge their walk with God in comparison with anyone else's - either man or woman of God.
Let God be the one to gauge your walk with Him.
Comparing your Christian life with anyone else's is causing yourself unnecessary stress.
I emphasize on having a relationship with God.
Don't live life depending on what someone else is doing.
Don't wait till another person tells you the measure of how you need to walk with God.

The Bible says God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life.
We have eternal life  in Christ.
But we can only enjoy that if we are ready to live a righteous life through Christ.

Brothers and sisters, are you walking with God?

It is a self examination.
I cannot examine you.
You cannot examine me.
But you can examine yourself.

Let us pray...

Let us thank  God for our lives.
Let us thank Him for salvation. It is salvation that brought us out of darkness.
Let us ask that He will continue to guide us.
Let us pray that God will help us to stand against all forms of distractions in Jesus name.
Let us pray that we will not be carried away in our mundane desires that we will forget what His eternal plans are for us.
Let us pray that henceforth grace to constantly walk with Him will be released upon us.

Lord almighty, we thank you, Lord. We have no power of our own. Jesus we pray that you help us in walking with you. Lead us almighty God. Help us to understand how to walk with you. You are our righteousness, Lord, let us not abuse the righteousness available to us through you. Continue to lead us all. Keep our feet steady in your path and let us remain Rapturable and, Lord, for as many among us yet to give their life to you, as they confess their sin and accept you as their Lord and Saviour keep them in your light henceforth in Jesus mighty name.

*Amen.*
